Unexplained Chronic Nausea

Hi all
I am writing in the hope that someone can relate to what I am going though and maybe offer some support or advice.
Seven weeks ago I woke up feeling extremely nauseous. I also had bad muscle pains, joint pains, a headache every day (now gone), and felt extremely fatigued; so fatigued that some days I find it hard to walk around as my legs feel like paper on bad days. I have been like this every single day for weeks. I have actually had similar symptoms on other occasions in the past. On those occasions, it has usually lasted about six weeks and then disappeared. This time it is showing no signs of abating. I lay on my bed most days feeling too sick to move around.
Because this has happened before, my GP thinks it might be M.E and I am waiting to go to a clinic to see someone about it. Meanwhile, each day is like torture to me.
I wake up very nauseous as soon as I open my eyes. I can not bear to eat until around midday but usually feel slightly better for eating something....if it does not give me bad wind and I end up burping for hours. I am just eating tiny amounts often. I have acid reflux but my throat isn't sore with acid. I also have a hiatus hernia though it's very small. I am on PPIs for this.
I can not take anti sickness meds as I react badly to them. No doctor will give me them so I have to brave this without any help. I cut out caffiene, I don't drink alcohol, and I eat a healthy diet...I have to because I have chronic kidney disease, my cholesterol has suddenly gone up, and I am high end of normal for blood sugar. In fact, I am on so many restrictions it seems sometimes like there is only veg left!
I am waiting to see a gastroenterologist as my GP is hoping he will do a colonoscopy to rule out bowel disease. I don't want it. I have to have CT scans every six months because I had kidney cancer two years ago, and I get so anxious beforehand and go to pieces. I have one due in two weeks that is causing me a huge amount of stress. I have to have the dye this time too and I am scared of it. I have claustrophobia.
I have been to the doctor about five times in seven weeks. It has been deduced that I am depressed to boot...who wouldn't be? Otherwise all blood tests have been fine and physical exam doesn't point to anything. I have just done a stool test and awaiting results. My GP really doesn't know what's wrong with me. I ended up in casualty one day as I collapsed on my stairs. I had been in a bad way for about five weeks. My sats were okay, blood test fine, chest x-ray fine..sent home.
I am starting to go out of my mind methinks! I am worried and sometimes it feels like I can't breathe through such stress. I get light headed, feel almost depersonalized, and sweat with fear at times.
Has anyone suffered in this way and for so long without diagnosis? I would welcome any kind of response.

*Do you have morning nausea? (Nausea Starts Early In the Day and Gets Better throughout the day)
*Do you feel nauseas but never really throw up *that much*?
*How much are you eating? Do you have an apetite?
*Do you have acid reflux/heartburn?
*Upper abdominal pain?
*Anxiety triggered nausea?
*Achy Joints/Muscle Pain (Less Common)
*Skin Burning (Less Common)
If you have most of these symptoms in particular the morning nausea, you need to have your G.I. order a gastric emptying exam. I am suspecting that you potentially have a condition known as Gastroparesis. This condition occurs in women 9x more likely than in men. Gastroparesis means that your stomach or duodenum are suffering either from nerve damage or nerve inhibiting. This causes your stomach to function at a lower rate than usual.
Unfortunately there isn't a cure for this disease, as the disease is symbolic of neuron damage. However there is hope depending on the root cause of the condition.
It is important to understand that gastroparesis is a symptom, not a disease within itself. This means that something in your body is causing the problem.
Causes:
*Diabetes- This is the #1 cause of Gastroparesis patients, as diabetes causes nerve damage.
*Schleroderma/ANA-
*Multiple Sclerosis/Lou Gherig's Disease (ALS)
*Mitochondrial Disorder/Disease
*Autonomic Neuropathy
*Acute Viral Infection
So here is where the good news comes into play... If your gastroparesis was onset by an acute viral infection like Epstein Barr, then you actually have a strong chance of recovering from this disease. The body will repair the neurons and will also repair the myelin sheath of the nerves that are damaged over time. You will know if your onset is viral based because your symptoms will get better after 6 months - 2 years. If your symptoms are gone before the 2 year mark you are CURED. If not, then unfortunately either the virus did more damage or there is another cause. It is believed that if you have Gastroparesis after the two year mark that you will have it for the rest of your life.
Hopefully this helped.

I had knee and leg surgery 5 weeks ago. I have been so sick! Been to primary care Dr, emergency room and GI Specialst.
I wake up sick - nauseous, weak, very run down, sometimes with diarrhea and dry vomiting. Can't eat or drink a thing! By about 3:00 pm it starts to die down and by 6:00 pm I can eat a bland dinner - I eat it very slowly. I sleep sitting up and stopped taking all pain meds over 4 weeks ago.
the GI Specialst started me on pantoprazole. Waiting for C Diff results - but since it comes and goes it's probably not C Diff.
Can anyone offer any help? I have no previous history of this - it is all new since surgery.

I have been having the same problem for about 6 weeks as well.
Every morning I wake up nauseous.
I feel too sick to eat yet I have to make myself eat. Sometimes I feel better after eating but just for a bit. I also noticed that I seem to get more relief from nausea in the evenings. I am very fatigued and find it to be a major effort to do anything at times.
I can barely take a shower.

i have some reccomendations for you that may help if you are open to the and the may take some what of a process to see effects
1. try gargaling warm salt water in the morning before you eat
2. do breathing excersices when you are nauseas in this sequence
( inhale deeply for 3 full seconds and control your exhale for 31/2 seconds)
3. put on relaxing music and lay down and massage your own stomach
4. try to get fresh air
5. try doing mild early morning yoga before you eat
(any form of exercise is going to detoxify you and could possibly make you through up, this is a good vommiting. your body is ridding toxins)
listen to your body before you eat after execsice and obay its cravings and what its not craving. ( except for significantly unhealthy things such as smoking)
6. get into a affordable tai chi program or practice with a dvd
these are all mainly holistic approaches but it may help and may be the only alternative when doctors say they cant help
please try these methods for a week consistently and tell me how you feel
i will try all i can to help and your feedback is grand
thank you and hope you fill beter

I'm prediabetic, and the stress from being sick and trying to work full time as a special educator has been dreadful.
I just retired early over it, because the job is, in fact, killing me.
I have an appt at a large clinic here later this month. It will be interesting to see if I feel like my old self at all mid June, when my contract is up.
This has been just awful.
Thanks for your time.
