Unexplained Chronic Nausea

Hi all
I am writing in the hope that someone can relate to what I am going though and maybe offer some support or advice.
Seven weeks ago I woke up feeling extremely nauseous. I also had bad muscle pains, joint pains, a headache every day (now gone), and felt extremely fatigued; so fatigued that some days I find it hard to walk around as my legs feel like paper on bad days. I have been like this every single day for weeks. I have actually had similar symptoms on other occasions in the past. On those occasions, it has usually lasted about six weeks and then disappeared. This time it is showing no signs of abating. I lay on my bed most days feeling too sick to move around.
Because this has happened before, my GP thinks it might be M.E and I am waiting to go to a clinic to see someone about it. Meanwhile, each day is like torture to me.
I wake up very nauseous as soon as I open my eyes. I can not bear to eat until around midday but usually feel slightly better for eating something....if it does not give me bad wind and I end up burping for hours. I am just eating tiny amounts often. I have acid reflux but my throat isn't sore with acid. I also have a hiatus hernia though it's very small. I am on PPIs for this.
I can not take anti sickness meds as I react badly to them. No doctor will give me them so I have to brave this without any help. I cut out caffiene, I don't drink alcohol, and I eat a healthy diet...I have to because I have chronic kidney disease, my cholesterol has suddenly gone up, and I am high end of normal for blood sugar. In fact, I am on so many restrictions it seems sometimes like there is only veg left!
I am waiting to see a gastroenterologist as my GP is hoping he will do a colonoscopy to rule out bowel disease. I don't want it. I have to have CT scans every six months because I had kidney cancer two years ago, and I get so anxious beforehand and go to pieces. I have one due in two weeks that is causing me a huge amount of stress. I have to have the dye this time too and I am scared of it. I have claustrophobia.
I have been to the doctor about five times in seven weeks. It has been deduced that I am depressed to boot...who wouldn't be? Otherwise all blood tests have been fine and physical exam doesn't point to anything. I have just done a stool test and awaiting results. My GP really doesn't know what's wrong with me. I ended up in casualty one day as I collapsed on my stairs. I had been in a bad way for about five weeks. My sats were okay, blood test fine, chest x-ray fine..sent home.
I am starting to go out of my mind methinks! I am worried and sometimes it feels like I can't breathe through such stress. I get light headed, feel almost depersonalized, and sweat with fear at times.
Has anyone suffered in this way and for so long without diagnosis? I would welcome any kind of response.
Thanks

After researching tirelessly to try and help diagnose my 8 year old daughter, one thing that caught my attention was when you said you had mono. Ive read in my researching that very commonly after people have had mono, it develops into POTS. I don't know how to really explain what it is other than a rapid increase in blood flow. It has a pretty simple test that you could even do at home.
I dont know if that helps, but I figured it was worth a shot.

I am the mother of a 17 yr. old daughter, who has PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). The doctors still do tests on her, to try to figure out, what they can, but from my own knowledge, I think her symptoms mainly come from PCOS. She stays feeling ill all the time & all over. More sensitive to certain foods, that she wasn't before. Her life is being ruined because of this & not been attending school, but will try this week. Her P.A. to her Endocrine Dr. said she could get rid of a lot of problems if lost a lot of weight, which has been unsuccessful & I agree, but it is hard to lose if she is insulin resistant, but forget if it ever goes away, but I know it can be helped. Her testosterone has been higher, at her 2 week ago check up, which both insulin resistant & it, made her lose her hair on top, 2 1/2 yrs. ago, but doing fine now. I have read, that your health starts with your gut & have been giving her Probiotics & her Dietician said that for her to take a cheaper one called Culturelle Probiotics, than the Probiotic America, that I came across online, that sounds very good, to change someones life. It costs more that I can really afford, since I am applying for SSD & my husband is disabled. I told her Dietician, recently, that I was wanting to give her Garcinia Cambogia, for weight loss, that Dr. Oz on U.S. TV, endorses. Ophra Winfree, Kim Kardashion & the actor, John Goodman, have lost on it. I also asked my daughter's Gasterenologist about doing the Revolutionary Cleanse for her Colon, that Dr. Oz endorses & suggests to take it along with the G.C. Her dr. said to wait to see the outcome of her colon xray, to see if she needs cleaned out. You might see a OB/GYN or someone to check for PCOS. I hope this has helped a little & I hope to hear you will be feeling better soon. You might read up on Fibromyalgia, that my husband has, Metabolic Syndrome, my daughter probably has, that also effects blood pressure, but symptoms like PCOS. He has more side effects of Fibro, than we knew there could be & the same with her PCOS. Her Therapist will be good support, since she recently told my daughter, that she has had it for 10 yrs. & goes to a specialist & they still are trying to find out the mystery, on how women get it & how to treat it. She explained how their body works, better than any dr. has. Nita1955

Hello everyone. I had an episode of this as well and still do considerably. Your GI tract is fine and im speaking to most of you and myself and this is going by all the negative test results everyone receives.
Two explanations for these nauseated occurances are;
Anxiety, the pressure of todays society can cause many individuals too feel nauseated. Why in the morning? Well your at your weakest state in the morning, your pain thresolds are at a low and your energy levels as well.
Sleep apnea, this is a possibility as many people don't know what goes on at night. Lack of oxygen to the cells can cause low energy and nausaution as well.
Heart condition?? doubt it
Keep up with a good diet and exercise.
After nauseation subsides, eat a small meal, wait an hour and go for a light jog. The light jog will encourage oxygen to the cells.
Take up mediation, It places yourself in the present moment, keeping your brain strong and focused helps regulate how you cope with issues.

I too suffer from similar symptoms. I have bad stomach ache/nausea daily until around 2pm though I never feel good overall and my upper part of my stomach also swells terribly quite frequently. I always have a full feeling in my gut (that seems to be worse on left side of my gut even when I am not constipated or full from eating. I have pain on left side of my abdomen but can't tell if it's the bottom part of my stomach, or part of my intestines. I also have been looking into kidney/bladder problems etc. I have passed out 3 times in past 2 mos when my nausea and pain was exceptionally bad. I randomly experience odd bouts where I will be overcome out of the blue, with a severe bout of hard to describe dizziness that causes me to suddenly list to the right. It lasts a few seconds and then I am fine.
BUT my big question to many of you is re: the fear of a colonoscopy/ THat makes no sense to me because I have had 3 (starting at just age 35) and it's hand's down the easiest test I have ever had. You are not even conscious for it so what exactly is there to be afraid of?

Hi Sue I know how you feel as I have had problems with feeling sick and being sick for awhile just feeling sick for 2 months first then a little while later that in the last 2 weeks been feeling really sick and throwing up 5 times in 2 weeks then last Wednesday started having sharp pains in my belly and belly button and a little bit of pain in my pelvis that is gradually a little bit more sore than usual and the pain in my belly is getting worse and I,ve been to the doctor about it but at the moment haven't done much about it except a blood test which was normal and then I tried to explain that I have had this sickness problem for ages and all they gave me was Gavascon for the pain but it made me throw up been given it because of chest pain that is just heart burn but when I phoned a out of hours nurse she said said if it,s chest pain that that gets bad it,s not heart burn it,s chest pain. After my appointment during the night I felt worse and wanted to be seen by a doctor straight away if possible but they said no because I was seen the day before and just thought I had a stomach bug when I haven't a bug do,nt go on this long. So instead a nurse spoke to me and she said she would put me as a emergency but not until around November but then she said I,ll get you in as soon as I can and she ordered me some Paracetamol for the pain for now it,s not in yet but has been ordered so for now for the pain I,ve only got Germaline cream to put over my belly when it's bad enough and when I,m sleeping as I,m not sleeping much so tried that and a hot water. I got so fed up of my serve belly pain that I phoned a Nhs number for advice and they but me through to a doctor that took too long so instead I felt worse serve stomach pain and bad sickness so risked it and phoned a ambulance yesterday because I was desperate because of the pain but even though it wasn't that serious just serve I wouldn't of done it otherwise they were very understanding and just advised me to talk to a nurse and a emergency gp but still wasn't serious for one so will have to put up with it till Tuesday and if the doctor's say I can't have a earlier emergency appointment at my doctors surgery than I will go to A and E instead and be seen I just can't cope with this pain anymore I have had it for 4 days the stomach pains now and it feels worse than Ibs which I have literally crying because I want to be seen so I sort of know what might be wrong from me apart from the ibs. Been retching a lot too without really being sick in the week and today and eating food makes it worse. Katie x

A quick correction from my earlier reply to you. I meant to say after a year went by from my treatment of Cancer is when all of the every day nausea started. I'm miserable because of it and yes it's as if I'm being tortured every day of my life. It's absolutely terrible.

Did you ever get fixed. Been going through the same thing for almost 2 years. Every kind of doctor i can think of has seen me. Plenty of scopes through front and rear. Still nothing. Also have lost weight even though I have always been thin. Miss my bus driver job but my digestive system with dizziness and sometimes chest pain has me confined to the couch. So sick of this.
