Unsuccessful posterior repair?

i found this forum a great help and reassurance when i had my posterior repair a year ago. Initially the repair seemed to work and i have to admit, changed my life. A few weeks ago i started to feel different again and im now positive the repair has failed. im back to the same problems i had before - constant inability to poo, feeling like i have something in me, bloating and wind from not being able to the bathroom.. the list goes on.
my surgery was only a year ago. has anyone else experienced this? is it possible to have the op twice? is it even worth having again if its failed this time? i know i need to see my doc but im too anxious - the very thought of experiencing the pain and immobility again is daunting to say the very least.

hi mandie. ..sorry to hear of your concerns. I don't if this helps any but I have had multiple surgeries, my last in December. I understand your fears totally. sadly some repairs don't last despite being careful with recovery etc. About a year ago my surgeon recommended using an irrigation system to help with BMs and that awful inability to "empty" properly...and all that goes with it.. gas, bloating, stomach cramps etc. I was initially horrified by the idea of giving myself mini enemas... (available NHS and privately)...however it has helped me cope with the recurring rectocele so much. it only takes 10 mins to do and helps me to be more comfortable (& no more having to push/manipulate etc to have BMs). I still use this daily (with my surgeons blessing) so as not to put any pressure on my recent repairs and it helps so much. so far my rectocele repair has held up...alas I still have a cystocele so seeing my urogynea next month about that. take care

Thanks Ellie. You've been so helpful and I can't thank you enough. I will certainly get back to you once I've seen the consultant.
All the best,
Hazel
