Hi,

Since upping my dosage after a month of 50 mg I am have a lot of intestinal pain and gas bubbles. My stomach sounds like a gurgle machine. Anxiety over all is not worse but it has done a number on my gastrointestinal system.

Anyone else have this experience?

Thanks,

Hi. I was put on citalopram to begin with but couldn't take the side effects so the doctor put me on setralin. I only took one tablet and had the gurgling gas diarrhoea after a few hours then felt really sick. I didn't take it again. It took weeks to stop feeling sick. Now I've had loads of tests on my stomach to see if I have a medical problem because I have pain and acid 24/7.

My doctor now thinks it was the citalopram that kicked it all off.

I wish I'd been prescribed an antacid to take with my meds back then but some doctors don't consider the side effects of these drugs.

Hope you get it sorted and feel better soon.

I really dont think the zoloft has anytihg to do with your gas pains. I would just assume that its somehting else. Try a diet change, that should help. With anxiety, you are vigilent about every pain and ready to find the answer right away.

if you get a headache do you ever tell yourself its a tumor? If you have a pin in your foot do you think its a nerve disorder? Just challenge yourself to think it is what it is and not the zolft. Tghe zolft is there to enhanve the receptors to reuptake the serotonin in your brain which in turn makes you happier and less afraid of everything. Take the meds and give it time.

Also, depending on hold you are, we all get pains, stomach, knees, joints. Thats just getting older. Its not the drugs mmost likely.

Get well and do soemthing fun today!

Hi Pam, i was told could take a while 6-8 weeks..

I was on ot since Sept & now almost off of it

& my therapist commented.on bow much better i was over the week..

All i can say is it has helped may people but wasnt for me..

Just be aware of how you feel on it , every one is different.

What may work for one may not work for another..

      Best of luck..

I have always been on 50 mg to be taken twice a day from the day I was recommended to take setraline. I had bowel and anxiety issues but after around 8 weeks it was all fine. I'm sure after ur brain adjusts to that change, you will be alrightsmile just hang in there! smile
