Upper Abdominal Bloating after Eating

Posted , 8 users are following.

I have upper abdominal bloating, plus an accumulation of belly fat after a couple months of high stress. This fat could be high cortisol, or it could be due to inflammation. This is the cause of sudden belly fat. I gained the belly fat while simultaneously losing weight (wasn't eating enough due to stress). I tried to diet and exercise and the belly fat wouldn't budge. All I did was lose fat everywhere else. This is very new for me. I can hardly eat anything without my upper abdomen under my ribs bloating. I'm down to only being able to eating bananas, eggs, and Meal Replacement shakes without bloating. My bowel movements look healthy. They are not as brown as usual, but I think it's because of all of the Raw Meal Shakes I've been drinking every day. I can't decode what my issue is. If I knew, then I would know what I can and can't eat. And how to fix it. Is this IBS? Any other thoughts? These are all my symptoms.

Claudio. So far my ultrasound came back normal. My blood tests show a moderate risk of insulin resistance, but I did binge on a bunch of gluten free cookies the night before so maybe that's why. Anyways, the H Pylori blood test came back saying BORDERLINE. So the next step is to do the H Pylori breath test, which is more accurate. I have that on Tuesday. Borderline? What? Yes or No?

I know this an old thread, but did you ever discover what your problem was? I've been suffering from the absolute same symptoms. I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, and successfully treated H Pylori. Although, the latter was discovered by a blood test, not a breath test. So it may have been an old infection. Anyway, everything came back normal. I'm considering having a procedure called a ERCP done which is a test to see if you I have a gallstone in my bile ducts. Since I had my gallbladder removed in 2009. I was fine up until 2013. So maybe you might have a gallbladder problem.

It was Gastritis! I healed it by taking Nexium. But I was super anxious on the Nexium so a Naturopath switched me to Aloe Vera juice. Have you tried digestive enzymes?

That's great! I'm so happy that you found what was ailing you. I'll have to bring that up the next time I visit the doctor. I'll have to give the digestive enzymes a try too. However, I want to make sure it isn't something more serious, as my problem started abruptly. It's sort of waxed and whaned since then. About 5 years now.

That is crazy! I am having bloating troubles the past two months. Been healed for 1.5 years now. I think I was drinking too much coffee and triggered it again. So I'm taking Probiotic and Nexium. The aloe vera juice balanced stomach acid so no prescription medicine was needed. But the one I used may have worked becuase it was a special formula? It's not easy to find online.

While searching tonight I came across your thread and your symptoms sound exactly like mine minus the 5 day diarrhea stint I just went through.

Weight gain to upper abdominal area quickly, constant bloated feeling worsening after eating.

Did you have other symptoms besides the bloat and weight gain feeling?

So interested to hear how you finally found out it was gastritis...I'm desperate! And mybsumptoms don't match up with the normal gastritis symptoms.

Thanks in advance for more info!

Two GI docs said it was my diet and to change my diet. Ummm that didn't work. I found another GI doc who was wonderful and he did an endoscopy and saw rhat it was, in fact, gastritis. The acid blockers (such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid) helped alot, but only when I stuck to the diet for healing gastritis. And it healed. I stayed away from alcohol, coffee, spicey, etc. I made my own foods and at things that were easily digestable. Chewed my food very slowly and very well.
