Upper back pain

Hi all I hope Sunday is treating you well and that your partner is/has cooked dinner 🤗 I have started getting some upper back pain that can appear with an IBS flare, probably nothing to do with it and could be just muscular but I am thinking it could be caused by the IBS and digestion, nausea can also be a problem if I have food that doesn't agree with me like say Chinese 🤔🤔

Hi Alexandria I’m having similar trouble had it for about three weeks think stress maybe to blame but you never no I suffer from gerd as well as IBS as I no a lot of people do my pain starts in the upper centre of my back goes along to the left side of my ribs then goes down to bottom left it’s not in all them places at the same time but moves around & seams to ease if I pass wind but then can get worse if I eat something that does not agree

Absolutely, it's awful isn't it, I can get it either side or in the centre and does move around, I suffer with anxiety and get GERD to so I think that is part of the problem, it can catch you unawares, I have ranitadin, not every day but when needed, it works in about 20 Mins and better than omezraprol and OTC as you need too many of them, I once had it so bad thought it was my heart eeek

Me to I also have ranitidine at night before bed & lansoprazole in the morning then spasmonal but they don’t do that much to help I also suffer from bad anxiety always thinking I have something really bad although saying that this is really bad to us & no one who has not suffered from it knows what it’s like living day to day & half the time just not wanting to go to work it can be a nightmare

It's an invisible disease like many others, anxiety is often the cause and I believe if you can get that under control then your halfway their, no easy I know, have you tried changing your diet yet to try and get the gerd fixed

Yeh tried cutting back on acid type foods & really spicy foods & acid type drinks & it works ok main prob is if the anxiety sets in my throat seams to swell up then I stress about it so just have to calm down relax maybe a bit of shut eye & it goes back to normal my throat is very sensitive to certain things probably all the acid damage so just have to be careful sugar is one for me sets it off or citrus fruits if there strong

Hi thank you for commenting, I have and he says it's probably due to my using crutches full time, I find it's often worse after hydro but have been told as well it can be caused by gas eeek LOL the little dog was butch, he was my baby boy for nearly 12 years but sadly I lost him 6 years ago and still miss him, I do have 3 other rescues now but butch was from birth, we had a border collie called Nan Nook as well as butch, they were joined at the hip LOL

He also was a Pat Dog in the Day Centre for the members. He died at thirteen.
Pax our Collie, is so very independent, He just likes stacks of attention from others, leaves family alone Lol

I also experience back pain - a lot. It was from trapped gas. My flare ups are usually bloating and gas so it's not just back pain but also upper rib cage pain. Are you already on a low fodmap diet?

Hi Taniie yea I'm quite good diet wise, I have to be relatively clever at watching what I eat because of the UC as well because I can't Risk a flare of that as well, it's like a balancing act isn't it, I find it pretty annoying when people say, I thought IBS was psychological grrr

same here, i've had multiple tests done (CT-Scan, CBC blood count, Abdominal US, endoscopy, colonoscopy, etc.) and nothing has came up as of yet, probably will be diagnosed with IBS, but you're not alone in that back pain, I have pain in my upper back (thoracic region) and it radiates to my ribs as well, sucks!
