I joined this forum on behalf of my wife as she is not able to understand after stroke. I would like to knowif any female patient has experienced incontinence from using this medication. She has been on 1500 mg a day for approx one month and suddenly is having OCCASIONALY incontinence. If so I would like to remove this medication by tapering off.

two instances of incontinence while standing. Never a problem until the Gabapenten was prescribed. Now taking 1500 mg per day. She is post stroke 13 yrs. From what I have read this medication can very damaging, especially when trying to weane off it. Even though it works, it's not worth the complications that come with it. I read many forums

That is terrible. With reference to the coughing up of blood was this an embolism?
How long ago was it since you were put on this drug? When did the coughing up of blood start? what tests have been done ? Did you report this to the MHRA?
I was coughing up blood as well when I was on it.

Hello Kevin I am 55 and I have been taking 3 300mg 3 times a day for about 8 years for back pain (between you and me I don't think it works much). I do not suffer from any incontinence issues. I would go back to Gp ask what could be causing it.
Good luck

Hi Kevin I have been on Gabapentin for a year slowly increased the dosage. In the past 4 months I have awoken to my bottom pants wet & my bed soaked. I take this medication for anxiety. It freaks me out to wake up from a deep sleep not knowing I needed to urinate. I'm 62 & have suffered for many years with a weak bladder & need to wear a pad during the day for uncontrollable leakage. I was wondering if Gabapentin was causing this embarrassing situation? Anyone else have an issue from this medicine or is it time to see urologist

I have been on gabapentin for neuropathic pain for nearly 5 years I am 35 year old female and have had urinary incontinence during the night , at the beginning it was more of a odd occasion but now is becoming more and more frequent occurrence which is so upsetting and embarrassing , I thought it might be urinary tract infection, I have been given antibiotics for have been checked for a prolapse and now I have just found this discussion and everyone who has experienced incontinence during the night has reported exactly the same things that I am going through, not waking up in time or if I am lucky enough to do not being able to make it to the toilet in time, have decided to try and come off the gabapentin with the hope that this may help, I'm sorry that your wife is having similar problems I hope she gets better soon
