Urolift - Review

Most of the Urolift reviews I see are posted on the Urolift website or on doctors websites where they can pick only the 5 star reviews. I think I was given an unrealistic expectation based on all the glowing reviews.I just had the procedure 3 days ago and am a bit worried that I'm much worse off than before the procedure I'm hoping for some big changes this week. The procedure was way more painful than what I was led to believe. Don't buy the "mildly uncomfortable" it was extremely painful, I thought I was going to pass out. What has me most concerned is that most people claim they can pee like a race horse right after and for me 3 days later, it is more difficult than ever to pee. I'll give it a week but right now, I'm concerned

Just joined specifically for Urolift comments- 10 pm in Columbus -had it done at 1 pm. 9 hours in So...
My wife came to drive, though I feel comfortably it would not be a problem. Those who might have had one too drinks know you shouldn't drive. The nitrous (first time I remember having it) was gone 15 minutes after the doc left. Too much Peeing was an issue the first hour. Peed leaving 145 (bloody) as leaving and then again at 215 as I got into the garage. STRONGLY suggest a big pad/pee bottle/big Macdonalds cup.. no matter who drives.

All - just wanted to check in with a positive (so far) review of urolift. I'm less than 24 hours removed from the procedure and doing well. I'm a little on the younger side (42) and have been dealing with BPH for a few years. On Flomax but my urologist recommended urolift so I don't have to deal with the drugs longer term.
They put me under with general anesthesia (expensive, in case you are considering this option) and I believe the procedure took less than an hour. My doc informed me that it went perfectly, and showed me some before/after pictures taken of the prostate and urethra and it looked about a 25-30% larger canal. I did not need a catheter as I was able to pee right away and they sent me on my way.
After reading some of the horror stories on here, I considered pulling out of the procedure, but decided the benefits outweighed the negatives. I'm glad I stuck with it because I'm actually feeling pretty good already. The first few hours was pretty painful, but after that it started to subside. About 18 hours later still a little pain but Aleve has helped. They gave me Phenazopyridine to help with painful urination, and it works pretty well. Been drinking tons of water and Gatorade as well.
I've had a couple of urgent moments, and not the best first night's sleep, but I'm already starting to feel a little more regular and the flow is much improved. I'll check back here and post again if anything changes but cautiously optimistic that this was a good decision and the minimal pain is worth it. My doctor was really excited with how well it went, and she appears to be right. I went to a few urologists before I felt comfortable with this one, so make sure you get a good doc if you are considering the urolift, I think it helped me a lot to get someone who did a good job.

Thanks Ken - I'm almost three weeks removed and feeling great. Major improvement in all symptoms. Flow is much better and pain is gone. I'm really glad I did it and the worst pain was only for the first few hours after the surgery. Some uncomfortability for about a week but pretty much close to normal after a week and normal after two weeks. Well worth it if your uro believes you are a good candidate. Being on the younger side, this at least buys me some time for 5-10 years according to my uro.

I've read this whole string ... that Ken started 4yrs ago. I'm looking at getting this procedure Feb'23. I'd like to see more verity of men who have had the Urolift procedure done with their good/bad/whatever experiences. Though leaning to go ahead. My doc is rated high in this procedure and says I'm good candidate and should have easier recovery experience ... famous last words?

Glad to find some real world conversation for the Urolift. Most everything online is serving the clinics and the company. I had my Urolift procedure 8 days ago. It was done in the hospital under mild sedation, same anesthesia as done for colonoscopy. It was very easy and I feel I had a very good doctor. Now as I heal, I'm nervous that it is not working. My symptoms were very slow flow, dribbling, and delayed start. Going to the bathroom was usually as much as 10 minutes.
The first 2 days seemed great - I had stronger flow and can start right away. On day 3, I started having slower flow again and I have the sensation of having to go all the time. Even after I go, the sensation of needing to go is still happening. I have called doctors office 3 times and they say my prostate is likely swollen. Now at day 8, I am not seeing any improvements other than able to start right away. I am on NSAIDs and it helps the feeling of having to go but the stronger flow I had on the first 2 days has not come back.Has anyone else had similar experience? I'm nervous that I won't get a successful outcome. Thank you for any thoughts.
