Using Clobetasol (Dermavate) with no symptoms

Posted , 12 users are following.

Hi,

Currently I have no symptoms of LS (in the past I was diagnosed by biopsy and used a variety of different potions and treatments). I've had some fusing but seem to be stable at the moment.

I'd like to ask the experience ladies with LS what is your protocol on using Clobetasol (Dermavate) long term when you have no symptoms (itching, burning, white plaques, lesions)?

Appreciate your input.

Hi Sam, I think that if you have a good doctor who specialises in LS (which thankfully after years and years I now do.) I would ask and take their advice.  It varies depending on your age and precise problems but I think mostly the advice is to use twice a week to keep it away.  But truthfully I don't think that there is a one size fits all answer.  Glad things are going so well. Best, J.

Hi, my doctor seems to think no need to use it. I'm trying to see what advice other people have as many say 2x a week for maintenance. im looking to see the experiences of others. Many thanks!

Doctors don't all agree on this point. A compromise betwwe not at all and twice a week would be once a week, which some doctors prescribe. The thing about going off it is, the standard line, is that at some point you'll have a major flare-up and you'll have to start all over with daily applications, tapering off again.

Yes I was thinking I should do something as I've just been using 2x a week. Thanks

Yes I've just been told 2 X a week for maintenance now having used it twice daily for 3 weeks on advice from GP. Saw Gyn today - first visit- after examining me he's pleased with the results and recommends 2 X week while symptom free. A very very small amount though. Dermovate.

Great thanks, sounds like 2x a week appears to be advised by the majority.

I was diagnosed around May 2014.   I had the white plaques which I treated with Clob, and then for a while, probably a couple of months I used Clob twice a week for maintenance, even though there were no visible signs of LS.    I then decided to stop that, and haven't used Clob for maintenance since, as I don't believe I need to, and I have never had a repeat outbreak of white plaques, and so it is a personal choice. I just don't want to apply the cream when my Vjay seems fine, but of course we are all different, and you must do what you feel happy with.   I have, however, used the Clob if I have had problems with my clitoris.  I decided on this due to the  confusing array of information on LS, mainly from doctors, you have to be your own advocate with this condition.cheesygrin

As my fusing disappeared I use less and less globetasol.  It's a very tiny amount that I use at present, even only once a week.  And I think that will diminish to nothing eventually.  I no longer know where to apply it.  Which is very, very positive I think.

I also think twice weekly I was doing really well symptom free and got complacent. Now I've had a really bad breakout after sex with my husband. It was almost like a graze or friction burn I could cry it hurts so much. Will make sure I stick with the dermovate

I definitely lean toward twice a week as maintenance. I actually do it every third day and by the third day I'm feeling a tiny bit symptomatic.
