I have been started on Zoladex implants for 3 months to help shrink this and possibly have surgery to remone one ovary, fallopian tube and my uterus, not had any side effects as of yet, just wnanted to know if there is anybody out there who has had similar and will i gat ant side effects.

I wanted to let you know that I am into week 3 of the Zoladex, my period has lasted only 12 days instead of the usual. My fibroid pain has reduced in the last 4 days and I have actually been free of painkillers!

I am going to join slimming world on Tuesday on the recommendation of my doctor. Feeling motivated and relieved. I am experiencing hot flushes, but hopefully the wild yam root will help with that.

I just wanted to share some positive news x

      Hi Nicola,

that is good news! Well done you, I bet you can't wait, not too long to go either :-)

Although this is my first week at slimming world it is going well, should be about 5lb loss. Tonight I was able to exercise for the first time in about a year without pain, just groans with the effort...I managed about 15 mins, but it is a start. If i had known what Zoladex could do for me I would have insisted on it earlier. Let me know how you get on x

      Hi Fatema 00613,

I have loads of fibroids, I am now on month 7 of Zoladex and will have one more before my operation at the beginning of September. My side effects have been occasional headaches and hot flushes just after my injection, that's it! I have also lost nearly 2 stone in weight (yes I have been trying to!), so be positive. Even though my fibroids have still managed to grow, all the other symptoms are now manageable, for me Zoladex has been a life saver and I will always be grateful for the relief it has given me, this is what has enabled me to diet, I couldn't do it before, nor could I exercise.

My 19 y/o daughter has an 11cm fibroid. Zoladex implant just under 3 weeks ago. Has been constantly nauseous and sick for last three days. Plan to shrink then myeomectomy. No access to anti sickness ATM as it is the weekend - pharmacy wouldn't give anything. Called ward who advised doctor on Monday or return to ward if bleeding not subside.

I just wanted to say that I had massive fibroids, and was measured at being the equivalent of 28 weeks pregnant when I saw the consultant prior to my full hysterectomy.

At that point it looked likely that I would need to be cut vertically due to the size of the fibroids.

I asked if I could have something to shrink them whilst awaiting the operation and was put on zoladex.

My hysterectomy was just over 3 months later, by which time the shrinkage meant I was cut horizontally along my previous Caesarian scar.

During the first month of taking the zoladex I bled like never before, including loads of mucous that was a bit like miscarrying. My assumption is that this was the fibroids breaking down a bit. After 3 weeks the bleeding stopped and did not recur.

After that I had hot flushes and headaches.

I would recommend the zoladex as reducing the size of the fibroids made me more comfortable and made my hysterectomy easier.

I was on Zoladex and while I would recommend it as it massively relieved my pain symptoms, be cautious as for me it did not shrink my fibroids. It just slowed their growth, but they did still grow.

      Hi

Just saw all the comments regarding fibroids and zoladex. I was given the injection in September the three month dosage. I had my operation 2 weeks ago. Removed 12 fibroids didn't remove one as it was too dangerous. I had a myomectomy. My question is do the size effect ware off and when. I get really bad hot flushes. And since I took the injections my sex drive is zero. Will I ever feel normal again.
