Vaginal atrophy

I have been prescribed Estriol cream for this horrible condition.  Have been using it for a week, and some improvement but not a great deal.  Anyone know how long this cream takes to kick in?

I have tried GYNEST, Vagifem and Ovestin. None of them really helped. Ovestin I used only once. It felt like there was a fire burning in my vagina. The others I used for about 6 months each. No use. :-( Will see a gynaecologist soon.

Oh dear Shirley, how frustrating. Hope I get on a bit better!

Yes it is very frustrating. I hope you get on better too. Going to get some Sea Buckthorn Oil Capsules and see how I get on with them as they "Mimic" estrogen so things should improve whilst using them IF, and its a BIG IF, I'm lucky. I an using Vit E Suppositories to help with the soreness inside and they definitely help but I still get that feeling of wanting to wee all the time.

Do the inside e suppositories help any with the outside issues?

Went to Aldi yesterday to get some coconut as one of the girls on here said it was on offer there. But the man I asked said they didn't sell it! Not used the suppositories for the outside issues. I am using Hydromol for that.

I found the urge to wee all the time seems to be due to the irritation down there making me oversensitive. Then I'd go and produce hardly anything.

Yes that's exactly what happens to me. On the days when I feel I am dying to wee all the time, I get to the loo and hardly produce anything. Most irritating. sad

I use Estriol on the outer tissues. My nurse practioner said it would take at least three months to kick in. I have been using it for one month and feel some difference. I also use vagifem every other day as well as a moisturizer on the outside. Al lot of stuff to feel mostly normal again.  The vagifem took over 6 months to kick in and if I miss one treatment I start to get symptoms back.

I really will have to be patient won't I! So grateful to read all these posts as it gives me things to look up and maybe try.  Coming back as a man next time!

Should get relief especially outer rather quickly, use unscented dove soap. But it took me a few months to really get better and now ita five months and I'm so much better but I cut back the cream to half. As at my recent appt the Dr said I would not get better if I didn't use twice weekly. Plus just using it on outside area wont help because the problem is on the inside. It takes time I found out.

Glad to hear,my main issue is outside vulva and vaginal entance doctor probably going to just try a premeran cream low dose on outside. She said if cream bothered me it can probably compounded into an ointment for those that creams bother.guess creams can contain alcohol so bothers some.

Thanks for your tip.  I'll use it on the outside as well I think, looking elsewhere at the comments on here.

Outside was my main issue also. If you use it there also it helps.

Esterol isnt the same as premeran right. They never offer any cream but premeran here in the States. Is Ovestin the same idea as premeran, i meed to ask about these. Different meds, different countries I guess.

It's Estoriol I used a small amount on the outer lips and inside

My doctor is starting at a lower dose for outside one half miligram

My Estrace cream has taken over three months to be effective, and that was probably due to my gyn telling me to experiment with 3x a week instead of 2. Actually have days where I feel normal😊!! Now I have to decide whether to try the Mona Lisa laser to get rid of the estrogen risk?

I don't measure it just a smear where it tears. It probably amounts to that much but now I've stopped splitting I'm only using it on the outside once a week

Most here (US) first offer Estrace cream, but Premarin has by far the most advertising on TV, and in print. Just don't like the whole horse urine/abuse connection. Think the lower forms of estrogen would need a Rx to be compounded.
