Vaginal hysterectomy due to prolapse, what to expect?

Hello, I am new to the forum.  I have just been told I need a vaginal hysterectomy later this year due to prolapse of womb, bladder and bowel.  At the moment I am on a 6 month intensive course to strengthen my pelvic floor (it's none existant apparently).  I am really scared about having a cathetar fitted, just don't like the thought.  Do you always have one fitted after the op?  Also does anyone who has been through the same thing know how long I am likely to be signed off work for?  I work in a school but no heavy lifting.  Many Thanks in advance.

Hi I had my vaginal hysterectomy and repairs yesterday. It was a very long day as I had to be at the hospital for 10.00 and didn't go down till about 4pm. I'm uncomfortable but have taken all your tips and am sat here drinking lots of water zany peppermint tea. Good luck to everyone x

      Hi Tracey

Gosh what a long wait you had, poor you.  Sorry you are uncomfortable, so that improves soon.  Keep drinking, walking and kegelling!
