Funny I should look at your post. I have been to Dr. Cheryl in Garden City. I am guessing that is whom you mean. I have the glasses with prisms in the, It has help me some but it can be a long process. It is also pretty expensive so see if your insurance will pay for it. I started seeing her in June and I have had my glasses changed 3 times so far. I need to go back and see if they need to be chaged again. I have been dizzy for 4 yrs and even though it has not fixed my problem, it has made it better, just not perfect yet. She said it may take some time since I have been dizzy for 4 yrs it will take time to undo it.

Yes, that is exactly the dr I am speaking about.......I am waiting for her to be in my health insurance network first........As for glasses I am not going to be covered until April unless my medical insurance picks it up......I live in Westchester county....Been dizzy for like 30 years but not always   sometimes would feel good for several months then I would get vertigo again to the point where I would have to fall to the floor........I am on meds now which are helping alot but I still get dizziness/vertigo maybe twice a day...always tired etc.....I was checking out drs closer to me who say they deal with this .....anyway according to the intternet  but dont know if they have the equipment to test....no one answered their phones today....recording just repeated itself.....It is a bit of a trip for me to go to Garden City plus I only drive about 35 minutes from house........Dont know how many times I will need to go back........rolleyescry

Hi rocksolid...I hope you are doing better......You right Dr. is not far once you go over bridge........How was the testing???  Can you tell me about it????  When you say its a little expensive...expensive meaning????  Thank You

The testing is pretty much like a regular eye test but she will ask you to tell her when a red line is stright and things like that. No pain at all, very simple. It will take about an hr or so. I think the testing cost about 500.00 and if you need gasses another 400.00 ish. If you need glasses you will have to go back in about a wk to get them. It sucks to send so much money but worth it if it fixes the problem. Try to get pre approved from your insurance before you go if you can. I get approved after the testing because I was able to show the insurance company that there was a medical issue I was having. I am still working on getting paid back from them but I will cut through the red tape.

My first pair of glasses took me a few days to get used to and then after 2 wks I was back to being spaced out and the dr.s said because my eye muscle calmed down some and i needed different glasses.

yes that is expensive.....I have to get a code from the drs office and then call my isurance to see if they even cover this type of testing.....if they dont cover it I will have to call my union and see if they will pick it up   I am a retired teacher.....The funny thing is I feel pretty good today look good  a few dizzy spells so far and other days forget about it.......

I understand. I am light headed all the time 24 /7 for about 4 yrs. I feel like I am walking through a dream. It's tough to keep ging but I hve a family and don't really have a choice. I think it is worth getting cheked out. She has told me that she has had patients that put on a pair of glasses and it makes things much better instantly. Her office is not too far from where you are, it's an easy drive. If you do go make sure to make a future appoinment with her since she gets booked up very fast, this way you sucure a date with her. I am waiting for my insurance to pay me back but the truth is I would pay a million dollars to feel better and it would be worth it. It's worth checking out. I too have been to every doctor and nobody knows why I am having this issue. I was also looking into issues with the SCM Muscle which is in your neck. If you look that up you will see the issues we are having assocated with that. problem is our issues can be like 1000 reason and we need to figure out which one it is.

Also have been looking a Candida overgrowth as an issue maybe as well. You can look that up also smile

Thanks for all the information. I will give it a few weeks to see if she is part of my insurance......Yes...I agree I would do anything to be the way I was before...Energetic, laughing ALL the time etc........I will look that other stuff up   Keep me posted on your success...Spent most of the night looking up eye doctors in my area just to see if they notice anything........Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!!   I just want to stop thinking about this.....Will put it on mapquest so I can get an idea  Hopefully I will be able to drive    Signing off for the night!!!!

Have a good Thanksgiving as well. I bet there are no other doctors in your area that can do this. Once you get over the bridge the ride is about 20 min, it's really not that bad. She is over by Roosevelt Field Mall, I don't know if you know where that is. Kind of close to Nassau Coliseum .
