Vertigo

I have had vertigo for nearly two weeks. It is not as bad as it was the first few days but it is very limiting! I have purchased a Rollator to help me get around. I do not seem to be okay travelling in the car as I feel dizziier afterwards. I want to go to the pool but not sure if this is okay or not! I would like to hear from other people with this condition. I am worse at night and when I lay down and get up. Anxious to talk to others!

Hi Kathleen, I have the same problem but mine has been diagnosed as silent migraine. I had it 2 1/2 years now. I went to GP who basically didnt believe me, so that took over 2 months then was sent to ENT who couldnt help, mine is dizziness as vertigo is room spinning, and mine is me thats dizzy. Had MRI - all normal. Then I saw a neuro surgeon as I had a car crash many years ago and have a prolapsed disc in my neck. He said it was nothing to do with that. Finally saw a neurogolist a year down the line who diagnosed the migraine. Now I have another neurologist who specialises in headaches. I then paid privately to go to Migraine Clinic in Harley Street who gave me botox. That stopped my eyes jumping about and the feeling that they were being pulled out. But the dizziness has always stayed. Ive had endless epilepsy medication and beta blockers, nothing works. Waiting for appmt to have more botox. But look up SCM as thats what I think mine is. No way of proving it though. Good luck with the journey. x

I looked that up and it is very interesting! Too many possibilities however after ruling out the worst ones. Maybe it will never be known and just try some exercises that address each of the possibilities?

    Hi Kathleen

If its silent migraine, exercises will irritate your corrugator muscle which in turn irritates your trigeminal nerve. Its resting them thats needed hence the botox. It freezes it to give the nerve a rest. I have trouble with lights and sounds and I couldnt nod, but I can now. I still have major problems with lights and sometimes PC screens. Try not to frown that makes it worse. I dont really know how they decide what it is apart from the symptoms. I do get massive headaches from time to time but I expect we all do. My symptoms fit both migraine and SCM. My worse dizziness is going from lying down at tea time to sitting up getting my tea. Really bad then. But not like that first thing in the morning. Bizarre - cant even begin to understand it and sometimes so sick of it. But getting stressed just makes it worse.
