I read somewhere that low in vit D could trigger anxiety. Getting enough sun or taking vit D could help. When i hv anxiety, walking outside getting sun improve my mood. You probably should try it.

Hi again Lauryn  I have sent you a PM with reference ranges re vitamin D and the difference between D2 and D3. It is very important to find out exactly if you are refe4rring to nngs/ml . In the UK the reference range is at least 100 depending on your consultant  endocrinologist. You must be monitored though.

?You really do need to take your vitamin D3. Have you had a bone profile test done? This is a blood test and consists of the  following elements/levels.

      calcium,

      parathyroid hormone,

      phosphase

      Vitamin D.

Vit d deficiency has to be taken seriously as it can lead to osteopenia and osteoporosis and then aches and pains in your muscles and joints. This can be prevented by taking adequate amounts of vitamin D. However with a level as low as 19 you MUST take Vitamin D supplements. This is not available in food and sunshine alone especially in England.

?The dr needs to establish the cause of the vitamin D deficiency.

      Have you been dieting?

?Are you having an adequate diet? Are u taking any medication that deplete calcium and then vitamin D?

Have you got an absorption problem?

If you are taking or have taking any PPI's such as pantoprazole, lansoprazole, omeprazole or the statins these can cause nutrition problems

I think main factor is stress any negative emotions can depleted and tire body by its nature. Cut out sugar for time. Walks as set routine. Sun too!

Hi again I think that you need to know if it is nnomols or mgms. Have you got a print out of your results? Vitamin D is not just a vitamin it is also a prohormone and must be taken initially under medical supervision so that the calcium levels can be checked for the first few weeks at least of being on Vit D.

But do you feel spaced out? When you walk do you feel dizzy and stuff. Do you feel weird outside?

Hi jeannisha Sorry but sunshine, diet is insufficient if you do have a severe vitamin D deficiency disorder which if your level is only 4 you do have. The treatment is vitamin D either orally or by injection if there is a malabsorption present. Some medications prevent calcium being absorbed leading to low vitamin D level. This has to be treated under medical supervision, if your GP is unwilling to do the blood tests as many are then there is a private concern at an NHS hospital who will do the vit d test for about thirty pounds.

hi again People with vitamin D deficiency are often deficient in vitamins and minerals so important to get the appropriate bloods done which would be thyroid screening, screening for anaemia including Vit B12 deficiency. With a low vitamin D as I keep saying no one can advise you without knowing the exact details such as the reference ranges, values as each lab has different techniques for testing and different reference ranges depending on the equipment they use.

I sent you details of forums where you can see what I am going on about. You need treatment asap but you also need to know exactly what you are doing. The blood results are imperative, your dr will send them if you request them.

I would be interested in knowing where these tests were done however I realise that you may not wish to disclose this which of course is your right.

However it is info that people need to know in order to safely advise you.  Best

      hi again Lauryn

I trained as a nurse and also have a vitamin D deficiency . If you do not have the info available re the reference ranges and values then people will be unable to make head or tail of this serious but treatable condition.

Sadly even a lot of drs are au fait with Vit D deficiencies so that is why it is necessary to carry out your own research , that is the logical thing to do. Despite having a KNOWN Vit D deficiency disorder I was refused a vit D test by my GP on the farcical assumptions made by a non endocrinologist at the local hospital. It was her unilateral opinion not supported by any research that if one takes a supplement then the assumption is that you do not need testing!!!!

Nothing could be further from the truth. If the Vit D level is not monitored then how does the dr know if it is being absorbed , if it is effective and how high/low it is. I contacted the hospital and found out under a FOI request that the microbiologist who is in charge was following the wrong Guidelines!

One has a choice whether to swallow whole everything one is told even by a dr or to do your own research into it. Personally most drs are grateful to patients taking responsibility for their own healthcare as it eases the burden in this shambolic NHS.
