Vitamin D Deficiency!

Posted , 10 users are following.

Just had my blood work translated to me at last, I have a vitamin D deficiency which, so I was just told could well be one of the reasons I have been having boob issues.

Also my eyesight was going blurry, and considering I had lazic surgey last year it seemed weird!

So ladies please get your Vit D checked.

Hi all. Just thought I'd let you know that I had the result of my vitamin D test and it has come back as 'insufficient'. It's not wildly low but bearing in mind that we are at the end of the summer this is probably the highest reading, who knows what it's like in April? So a trip to the Dr next week to find out how much to take to correct it. No chance of getting enough from sunshine at this time of year. Thinking that as calcium and magnesium are linked to vit D that it might be worth asking about having those checked too. Xx

      hi Mooma

10 years ago my old UK Doc advised me straight away to take

Calcium & Vit D and Magnesium.. In peri meno and maybe more after menopause .. and B6

my tests were always okay too, but the supplements are still beneficial.

glad you got diagnosed.. Nice to hear from you 😃

supplements are very important in the menopause transition and post meno..

Hi Jay, I just asked a question about the vitamin K and this was the response

'Vitamin K is certainly an important vitamin and plays a role in the body’s ability to absorb calcium. It is believed that it may help the form of vitamin D, 1 alpha 25 –hydroxyvitamin D break down calcium. There have been a few reports about its importance recently, however there has been no conclusion that they must be supplemented together or that our bodies are deficient in this vitamin. There are many foods, fruit, vegetables and meats that contain vitamin K and we require 75mcg daily. Turkey, nuts and eggs are good sources so Christmas is a good time for our vitamin K levels. We only recommend customers to take vitamin K if they find they are deficient.

Dr Benjamin Jacobs of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is a respected expert on vitamin D and a friend of the brand. We have recently discussed this with him and he is of the same opinion that there needs to be more clinical research before supplementation guidelines will be altered.'

Dr Jacobs does seem to be an expert on vit D so I guess he knows what he's talking about.

      Hi Mooma

do you already take any supplements daily ?

i am off to the dentists thursday.. my teeth one side have been a right nuisance, i am sure theres something wrong, i am seeing a different dentist.

they are always sensitive on one side ... upper...

i am sure its my inlay thats not right.. i know my gums have shrunk the usual receding gums post menopause etc .. but i cant go on like this .. and my ear on that side too.. like it needs popping..

already had one infection missed with the bad doc, so not risking being told a load of twoddle by the dentist either ..

      so we shall see..

      Vit K

Vitamin K, found in dark green leafy vegetables, promotes the activation of a bone protein, osteocalcin, that increases bone strength.

In a Harvard study of middle-aged women, it was found that those who had the highest intake of Vitamin K in their diet also had the lowest rate of hip fracture. For those taking a Vitamin K supplement, 80 mcg a day is recommended.

Hi Jay, yes I do already take supplements. I take 300mg magnesium, a multivitamin for meno, omega 3, b vits, and few others too.... I rattle!  Hope you manage to sort the teeth out. Mine are sensitive too. More of a problem these days. But I wonder if mine is down to the TMJ thing, as that makes my ear hurt too. Xx

I know....Oh I hate horse pills....my multi vitamin is a horse pill.  I swallow it good but sometimes it gets stuck in my throat...it's brutal! lol

Yes they can be pretty huge . Haha. They reckon that magnesium citrate can upset your tummy. Apparently magnesium glycinate is best form. Might be good to check which type you have. Xx

      Hi mooma

no you dont want magnesium citrate

Magnesium citrate is used as a laxative to treat occasional constipation.

some others do the same too

      hope your well mooma 😃
