Vitamin D deficiency success stories

Posted , 122 users are following.

I am in the midst of this deficiency trying to recover from the horrible symptoms that it can cause. I want to hear from people who have overcome this deficiency and how they did it. If there was adverse affects of long term use of vitamin d supplements.

How long did it take to make a full recovery and any hurdles you ran into along the way.

I am just in need of encouragement right now from this deficiency. It has stopped me in my tracks and life just stopped for me. Being frozen in time while everyone continues on with their life while I suffer and wrestle with the symptoms.

Dealing with doctors who are not knowledgeable with this deficiency can be very frustrating.

Please share your story so I know after the storm comes a rainbow. Your stories will bring encouragement and hope not only to me but for everyone out there searching for answers on vitamin d deficiency.

Thank you and God bless!

I also have vitamins d deficiency but found out the hard way I was also magnesium deficient. I would look up magnesium deficiency as well as you really need to take them together. I raised my vitamin d levels and still had heart palpitations and tingling and dizziness and pressure in my head and neck pain anxiety etc. I took magnesium for a week and a lot of those symptoms are gone or much better so hopefully I’m on the right path. Best of luck!

Well I had been suffering from a brain fog/anxiety since February..doctor put me on every anxiety drug under the sun but I had bad side effects and choose therapy where he suggested I get my vitamins checked..so I did..only vitamin d was a 9..so we started 50000iu weekly..at first I felt amazing..like two days...became irritable..then felt good and last few days tired..that was first week..I took it for 4 weeks..I became constipated..nauseated constantly..tired..tingling in feet and hands..etc..so he rechecked my levels because doctor kept say vitamin d3 has NO side effects and has no idea why I feel sick and tried to say I had acid reflux and ibs..my level came back at 33..said to take 1000 or 2000 daily..we one week later brain fog has returned and stiffness..and waiting on my referral to an endocrinologist..I don’t know what to do..all doctors say I look healthy ..I’m 35 tensile..with a one year old baby ..I mean I thinking of upping dose of vitamin d3 cause at least I didn’t have fog but I was nauseated and constipated..tried magnesium citrate (natural calm) relieves constipation ..I’m at my wits end..feeling like I’m crazy and no one believes me ..I have ringing in ears too but all levels came back as normal..help

I just want to encourage everybody on here not to give up. I've been on the D, K, magnesium protocol for 125 days now, so about 4 months. I am finally starting to feel a lot better. Both the severe anxiety and minor depression I was having have completely cleared up. I have far less bone and muscle pain, I am sleeping a lot better, and I don't have the heart palpitations that often. So don't give up. As people told me, when I was first starting on the protocol of D3, K (I take Jarrows brand MK-7), and magnesium glycinate (I take that or liquid magnesium), you aren't going to feel right away, it's a journey and it may take a full year to feel better, but you should start noticing some big changes month 3 or month 4 of being on the protocol. I think for me, that in addition to the D deficiency, I had a huge magnesium deficiency going on, and that was causing a lot of the insomnia issues. Yay for improved sleep!

6/20/2018Hello- regarding Vitamin D Deficiency. I stated having problems with balance and my legs were very weak. Once my left foot started to drag, I was Very concerned. I also had shortness of breath. I went to my GP, and she asked me to try and walk on my tip toes. I couldn't ,My leg would just give out beneath me. She was going to refer me to a neurologist. They did bloodwork, and my Vitamin D came back at 10.1. So I took 8 weeks of 50,000 IU- 1 pill per week. I just did bloodwork again. My levels have risen to 38. I am feeling a little better. My breathing is now fine. But my legs are still very week when I walk even a short distance. And I also get so tired. I need to lay down as soon as I get home. They are better than before the pills. Now my GP wants me to take 2000 IU per day. And see her again in 8 weeks. I'm wondering if this is enough.???? Will my levels drop again ??? It is Very Frustrating. Every day at work I get asked "Why are you limping ?--What is the matter ? " I've never been a sickly person. It just makes me wonder why All of a sudden this happens ?????PRAYING THIS WORKS !!!

    Hello,

I was D3 deficient too, my levels were 8.1 and GP gave me 60000IU per week. In few weeks my bone/muscle pain started subsiding. I had been on d3 supplement for 12 weeks and my pains appeared again. I did my d4 checked recently and it is raised to 50 but the pain is still there. I have read a couple of posts everywhere and it says the pains go and come, it is ON and Off so this made me a bit calmer, thinking I am not the only one on this boat.

Even I was suffering from same problem, but vitamin d supplements really helped me a lot. I was so scared after I read somewhere How Vitamin D Deficiency is Linked to Type 2 Diabetes.

I have a similar problem ... I didn't do research yet, but I'm going to do but still I'm afraid it isn't enough? Do you know what causes these symptoms? I've never had it before... help sad

I too am Vitamin D deficient. I had the same problem a number of years ago, took supplements and got straightened out. I didn't continue with the prodocal and am deficient again. I'm at 17. I think some of you are taking way too much. My dr recommended 1,000 unit supplements once a day. The high doses may be the problem. My major symptoms have been weakness, fatigue, off and on tinitus, depression, mystery aches and pains, and tingling in hands. Loosing weight also a struggle. I also felt pins and needle feelings at times. I've only been on this go round of supplementation a short time, and have no clue how long I've been back to being deficient. My guess is awhile. My guess is it will take awhile to get back in balance.  My advice is continue with the supplement, but reduce the high doses you are taking unless your Dr advised it. Rome wasn't built in a day. Who knows how long it took you to become deficient. It could take awhile to build your Vitamin D back up again.

    Hi,

My symptoms are same... Due to elevated reading s of BP my dr checked everything heart , kidney but of no use then I researched my self and found my D is less than 10... Dr prescribed supplements and assured that it will take 1 month for some results.

Get well soon to all ...

I have been dealing with severe exhaustion for about 6 years. My Vit D level was 5 three years ago and my doctor had never seen a one that low in his 20 years of practice. He prescribed 5000ui a day of Vitamin D but never acted like "This is a prescribed medication and you need to take it daily..." so I didn't. I am exhausted, have chronic pain everywhere, I have severe anxiety, and now such severe IBS that I pass out and throw up every couple of months. I lost a relationship to my exhaustion, I almost lost my job, at my worst it took me 2 hours to get out of bed and I literally had to open my eyelids with my fingers. At one point I thought I might have narcolepsy because I'd seemingly microsleep on the train every now and then and sometimes my legs would feel so heavy while I was walking that I'd would tell my brain "Just drag them along!" just so I could get to work. Everyone told me, "I'm tired too!!!" I've had a billion blood tests, CT scans, ect, and I currently have a referral to a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome clinic. I had given up and decided I would live and die like this. Then I read and read and read every medical journal and quack on the internet and finally turned to regular people like us to fill the void of lack of real information on D deficiency and Chronic Fatigue. Vitamin D deficiency covers all my symptoms including the anxiety and IBS. I turned to that 3 year old bottle of Vitamin D and started to dose myself. I then got the Magnesium and K2 that is needed to process and facilitate the D.

I've been doing 6,000ui of D3, 550mg Mg Citrate, 360mcg MK-7 (K2) a day for about 4 weeks now. Sssshhhh, don't tell anyone, but I'm feeling better. I haven't told anyone I'm taking Vitamin D and I'm barely telling myself because I don't want to put any substantial hope into Vitamin D to get me back to where I used to be. I am tired, and on weekends I still get up to feed the cats and then go back to sleep for a couple more hours but I deserve it so p**s off. The important thing is I can get out of bed and go to work!!! I can now clean the bathroom and wash my dishes! I have even been riding my bike a couple days a week. My anxiety seems lesser though I am also taking L-Theanine (which also has Mg in it) to calm me and also supplement my Mg. I can't tell if there's much change in my IBS yet but that will come with time. The anti-anxiety meds I'm on actually exacerbated the IBS. Since I'm trying to be more active I can't tell you if D has helped with all my body pain but I can say that either the K2 or Mg (I take them at the same time) makes my muscles feel better. Soon after I take them I feel a calming wave wash over my muscles and the pain calms down.

I honestly don't know if it's this concoction I've chosen to take, or placebo affect, or my will's last stand to reclaim my life.....but I do know I don't feel like a prisoner of my body, as much as I did, and I can carry on a conversation without being confused about what we're talking about or forgetting what was just said. I'm going to keep my regimen going till my D is optimal and then do maintenance doses and IF this works.....I'm going to school my doctor because in the 50 times I've seen him since a years into my complaints of severe exhaustion when we FINALLY tested my Vitamin D...we still never followed up on if I was taking D like all the other chemicals I've been prescribed daily!!! WHY!!!??? I swear I'll never take a vitamin for granted again!!!

thank you for your reply. are there any supplements you would recommend me to be taking to speed up this?

    • Posted

I'm going to be honest with you this takes time there is no way to rush up things just take the vitamin d along with magnesium relax and be patient

thank you. just feel awful every single day and night. what dosage of magnesium do you recommend me taking daily? also ive read that its best to take daily vit d as opposed to weekly?

    • Posted

start with the smallest dose of magnesium an increase as you tolerate you can start with 200 mg, and for vitamin d, daily it's a little bit more stable. Remember this is not an overnight cure I know how you feel trust me I've been there it's no fun but you need to be patient.
