I have been on this forum for a while now. Ive listed so many symptoms. I'll be 48 soon and im assuming its my hormones. The symptoms are endless but I have very vivid weird dreams every night at times I feel a strong vibration in my head I wake up feeling like i possibly had a seizure. Does this happen to anyone else?

Totally understand what you are going through. Wish I could give you some helpful advice.

Has anyone else been able to help? My only option was hrt and Propranolol for the anxiety x

    Hi Susan,

I have/had all of your symptoms. Through trial and error i know it is estrogen related. When I was perimenopausal the symptoms were worse the week prior to my period. I started taking oral estrogen around age 53. That seemed to help some for awhile. I am now 58 and about 1.5 years postmenopause and things got bad the last year again, bizzare dreams, pressure sensations in my head and face, and ringing in my head. I going to a naturopath Dr and a test revealed that I do not metabolize and get rid of estrogen well. It builds up on my system, basically I was toxic. We tried patches and cream and the standard dose is too much for me and that is what makes me feel amped up in the mornings. We are still tweaking my dose. I hope we can get it right. I tried getting off estrogen and cannot. The dreams get worse and so do the odd sensations in my head. I hope you read this and let me know how you are doing

I am new here - came for the same reasons probably all of you did - weird symptoms that are driving me crazy! I am 52, but still having fairly regular periods. 2 months ago, very abruptly, I started waking up all night, every night with very vivid dreams. They are not necessarily bad - although some are - but I wake up in the middle of them as if being yanked out of the dreams unexpectedly. This happens a few times before 4am but then between 4 and 6-7, it is like a constant sleep/dream/wake cycle many, many times. I am so tired every day and feeling shaky, irritable, like crying sometimes. Very hard to get work done. I too have been to doctors, sleep specialists, neurologists, but nothing. Sleep meds have helped a little quite some anxiety, but I still wake up all night. Anyone else having similar severe symptoms and can relate?

Hi Anna, I wake up from the vivid dreams, go back to sleep and have more. They are awful, always about people I care about but then in the dreams they are annoyed with me and I wake up thinking they're tired of me and it is very isolating. And I do feel yanked out of these, it's weird! I'm almost 50 and rarely have a period, hoping for this to end soon.

hi Anna i added a post below i have identical symptoms to you and have been going mad trying to work out the cause which i assume is related to menopause and the treatment for it.

Do you wake up from these dreams every night, multiple times per night - that is what is freaking me out is that I get no respite, just every night. it is so helpful to know that others are having similar symptoms as my doctors just don't seem to understand.

In your case, do you think it is because you are taking the HRT? I am not taking anything that can explain this. It is exhausting! Sounds like you and I are experiencing quite the similar experience. Mine are worse 2nd half of the night, how about you?

Hi again Anna - sorry not to have seen this earlier. I have to tell you that I changed my brand of HRT (back to Evorel) and since then my symptoms have significantly reduced. I don't think you said you are on HRT but I am convinced these experiences are based on hormones and treating the imbalance.

hi like the others here i found this googling vivid dreams and hrt. it is an amazing relief to find others have this issue. I'm 53, on hrt patches and pills. i also have vivid, sometimes deranged dreams. lots per night and am "wired" with eye and brain activity. someone on the thread mentioned surgery and these only started after i had a back operation 9 weeks ago - I'm not sure if that is relevant. i also have what i assume is tinnitus not sure if this is related. the dreams are making me so tired it is affecting my day go day mood terribly. i dream often that my loved ones are hurt. sometimes the dreams are just mad like i dreamt by cat gave birth to a chicken! are we assuming the dreams are oestrogen related?

Me again 😃. You mentioned you are wired with eye and brain activity - I sometimes see floating things, colors, shapes when my eyes are closed and I am trying to go back to sleep - not just black, but active visual shapes. I was wondering if that is what you meant in your case?

Hi Anna - yes really hard to describe. I feel like I would if I had been playing a really intense phone game for hours and then shut my eyes - obviously I am not but it is like that kind of frantic brain activity. So much so that it a relief to have my eyes open instead. Eventually get to sleep but then have fitful sleeping.
