How are you today? Apart from being a waddling duck?

I am guessing you have done lots of exercise yesterday hence the achy bum and may need a more relaxed day.
I am amazed at the conflicting physio advice! One tells you to wait until you can walk without limp before ditching aids, the other physio is all for waddling. I worry about my waddle. It does not feel healthy or comfortable but then what do I know? I can walk properly with one crutch now which is progress of sorts I suppose....
Why on earth isn't there some joined up thinking in the phsiotherapy world when it comes to hips?? There must be the 'right' way after all this time, and so many years of research...so I wonder if anyone can answer??? Might start a new post....

Just wonder how long it takes before you can wake up and jump out of bed and get on with everyday things???
Im beginning to forget what "normal" feels like!!!! But I'm trying to remain positive and think it will end sometime 😕
If if you find the magic potion let me know ha ha!!! One day we will have forgotten about all this 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻X

Well today I noticed it was definitely a tiny bit easier - the heaving bed however hardly springing out of bed just yet
or springing anywhere except for perhaps to the fridge
This will one day be a memory we are rather proud of, and we need to keep ourselves cheery as hard as it is sometimes. I keep looking and planning holidays - imagining glorious garden parties and days full of sunshine. It feels like a tonic to an otherwise bleak winters day - and the day time TV is driving me nuts - but we are getting better Carol - at least the worst is behind us now!

Don't worry, the standing on one leg will come slowly but surely.
At nearly 4 months post op I don't use my stick around the house.
Getting up from the chair gets better the more you practise it.
Best wishes

im 7 weeks and walk round the house without crutches but if it starts to hurt or I start to waddle I will use the crutch for a couple of hours, it just rests it
you will get better, just don't push it, and listen to your body

With 1st RighTHR I had PT who told me walk unaided when I was 3 weeks - I was allowed to furniture surf, so to speak, and had to use cane outside - She also increased excercises having me do leg presses with weights etc. Well ... pretty soon my left hip started to act up and THR was scheduled for September - in the meantime, I still did what she told me to do- I was in so much pain I just stopped going ...
2nd Left THR - different PT - at 3 weeks I showed him proudly: "Look , no hands"
He got so angry and told me that I had to use the rollator, even in house, no furniture surfing etc. until at least 6 weeks as that would compromise healing and walking properly - excercises were kept basic with increasing repetitions when it felt good - if there is pain, stop ...
Listen to your body vanessa .... Just picture healing, repairing taking place -it is so fragile and yanking it is not going to help -
be gentle and kind to Vanessa - Tender loving care -
big warm hug
