Warm compresses and too much oil in tear film

I have mgd. Question,if some of us have tear film that is already too thick, how will the compresses and draining of the fliuds help. With me,the compresses make my vision more blurred as it increases flow of the oil glands? I am new to this. Whats your experiance? My eyes just feel gooey and my vision gets cloudier. Not a happy camper here.

My vision is good, and the compresses help my eyes feel more lubricated, but I can not express fluid as some others report.  I don't have mites.  At least neither of the two opthamologists have said so.  They say I have both MGD and Bleph.  My eyelid has thickened, I guess permanently, due to having the problem undiagnosed by my optometrist.  As soon as i went to the opthamologist, she got it in about 30 seconds and we started Azasite drops each night, plus Neomycin ointment on my eyelids each night.  I also use Genteal Extreme Dry Eye ointment in my eye if I awake and they are dry.  During the day, I use Refresh Celluvisc preservative free drops, which  super lubricate your eyes, but make things blurry for a few minutes, but give long lasting relief.  From this site I learned to use Wet Ones as my eye scrub both morning and night.  That has been a tremendous help!!  My eyes are still red most all of the time. But they don't hurt as much.  Good luck!

So wet wipes won't damage your eyes?

Because on back of wet wipes, it says don't use it on y our eyes.

But benzalkonium chloride does have antibacterial components.

I cut a small piece of Wet Wipes and put it over a Qtip and scrub the upper and lower lash line.  I don't get it in my eye.  It has taken away all the scaly oily stuff on my eyelid when nothing else did.

Isn't it linda hard to rub eye lash line without hitting eyes?

Also how long do you rub it? And do you need to rinse it after with water or just leave it?

No, I just close my eye and rub gently for a few seconds on upper and lower lids.  Do not rinse.

How many times do you recommend using warm compress a day?

Also is 3-5 minutes enough? The warm compress I bought says only use it 3-5 minutes per use.

    Can anyone help me here?

Every one is different for how much they need to do.. I used to do warm commpressers once a day but now I use expressor forceps on my glands so I only need to do once of twice a week. 3-5 mins I don't think is long enough, I do 5 mins of heat, then massage then heat again for around 10mins then express.

Went to my regular doctor, said to decrease compresses to once a day and avoid over manipulation of lids. If I want he will prescribe 100 mg of doxy for 6 weeks.

This seems like s big experiment to find the right combination of what hopefully works. Being that my oil is a little thick but i have enough acqueous layer im thinking the doxy or another drug might help to thin it. I am on fish oil.
