Warm sensation inside leg but not hot to touch

I have severe health anxiety and have been experiencing every symptom for the past 4 months. Recently I have developed a new sensation which of course sent me into a panic all over again. I am getting a warm sensation on the outer side of my left knee but it's not hot to touch. It feels like a hot cup of coffee was put against it or I rubbed Bengay on it. It only lasts for a few seconds and then goes and comes again off and on throughout the day. It's just a spot about the size of a ball that feels internally warm. Does anyone else experience this. I googled and now I am in a panic thinking it's a serious neurological disease. Please help

Hi Lisa. i have the same issue with the anxiety and had been prescribed medication that made me relax but it is a prescribed medication that i shouldnt use a lot. Did the vitamins you used help? i might consider getting the supplements if they are helpful.

Same exact thing here. It's in my right shin, same spot each time, a few seconds, several times throughout the day. It feels like there's heat blowing on it, or the sun is shining on it, or like you said, a warm cup of coffee on it. I went to the doctor, he said he's not worried, but referred me to a neurologist anyway, But the neurologist didn't have an opening for a couple months. I'm convinced it's the beginning of some horrible, debilitating disorder and it makes me so scared. I also get the horrible anxiety. With any symptom I get, I pretty much overthink it until I've worked myself up so badly that I'm in tears. I've been that way since I was little and my dad had to calm me down, (my mom was always like me, panicking about her own stuff). My husband is not like my dad at all, comforting and reassuring. Instead he rolls his eyes at me and gets annoyed whenever I mention a symptom. Anyway, I don't go to the neurologist until August, but will let you know.

I also forgot to mention that the doctor ordered bloodwork, and nothing looked abnormal, except my vitamin D was lower than the optimal range, but I don't think that's the issue.

Hi Iana,
I too have exactly the same heat sensation in my lower right shin. It comes and goes throughout the day but I notice it more if I walk around a lot or stand. It isn't hot to touch but I have convinced myself I have a blood clot even though I know if I did then something bad would have happened by now.
I do suffer from anxiety but only since last year because I was in agony with gallbladder issues which the doctors completely missed so I ended up having to fly half way across the world to see a specialist where I ended up having my gallbladder removed as it was about to burst. So I have lost trust in the NHS doctors as a result and never believe what they tell me, I feel like they try to get you out the door asap.
Anyway I have an appointment next week as it is concerning me and I have convinced myself I have ms, diabetes the list is endless!!
I just hope it is a form of anxiety and nothing serious!! Argh as if life isn't stressful enough for us all!!

I hope your appointment for this went well! I ended up cancelling my neurologist appointment because the warm sensation went away (either that or I have gotten so used to it I don't even feel it any more).

Hi! lana14567
Did you end up going to the Neuroligist and didn't he end up telling what this was?

Hi Lana,
I know your post is old, I am just wondering how did it go with neurologist.
I hope you don't suffer any more.
Let me know.

Hello! I am new to this site as of today. I actually just googled the same burning sensation and here we are. Lol I also have horrible anxiety about my health. Googling is the worst, but somehow I constantly find myself doing it to calm my fears. Of course it usually increases them. Anyways I was just wondering if you figured out the source to the problem and if so if you could share what you found/figured out. Thanks in advance! Donna ??

Hi Donna, my problem is not solved. It is actually very worrying that the doctors don't know what caused it. I'm seeing a Homeopath that do Iridology and hope that she will be able to assist.
?Please don't google...LOL it always makes you feel like you will die tomorrow. I've also started exercising in the hope that it will solve the problem. I will let you know what the doc say

Mine (sensation of heat in "flashes" sort of) went away after about four months. Someone here thought the problem could even be from higher up in the hip. I did have a bruise near by, but did not recall any major hit and I bruise easily. In any case, seems some pinched nerve or something non-disastrous. No hot to the touch leg or redness. Was near outside of leg on thigh between hip and knees. Good to check these things out, but I think, for most of us this sign alone is not life-threatening. I did once have the sensation of having very warm coffee poured on my toes off and on and it continued for a few months. Was it a peripheral neuropathy thing, a vitamin deficiency, or shoes I wore a few times too tight? I will never know. Best to all. I find peace of mind can come from seeing a doctor, but sometimes I am just too lazy. I know I did not have symptoms of a DVT, although I guess sometimes one doesn't. But this was not the same.
