Had my second dexa 2 weeks ago and my results show I have managed to reverse my osteoporosis without pharmaceutical drugs My doctors were more surprised than I by the results. It is achievable with a little research and discipline .

Ha! Me too! I've been fighting several GP's over the last 2.5 years because I was refusing to take Alendronic Acid. I am on steroids and so more bone thinning was expected and I was dreading this results appointment. By using all natural means I have also reversed the T scores. They have improved a lot! The specialist was astonished! So was I! I still have Osteoporosis but not nearly so bad. One T score equates to my result being the same as 94% of women my age in the population! It was 79% 2.5 years ago! Good eh? And still on steroids!   She congratulated me, saying 'this is down to you, well done!'

I feel totally vindicated. I also feel strongly that we should not have to fight so hard to be able to make informed decisions about our own bodies!

This is so very true.  First line should be public awareness of what is, after all, a very serious situation in the Western world.  Second line, the primary care physicians should be advising patients on nutrition and exercise to prevent the problem form occurrin, and if it starts to develop helping them with supplements and further advice before the stage where the meds do become a serious option.  At present we're left to get on with things, and then, no matter one's particular situation, some are more dire than others, immediately told we must take medication.

I will Kathleen. I have terrible brain fog from the steroids and I can't remember the recent ones accurately enough, but she is sending them to me. I have my first ones

      neck of Femur -2.6

      lumbar spine -3.5

all I recall is that there are no -3 scores now and the spine shows a massive improvement.

Sorry, I will come back here when they arrive.

I was so sure Id remember but I think I was so stressed and so excited they disappeared into the fog"...

Hmmm, looks like the femur is somewhat worse?  But the spine improvement is fantastic.  Was this done on the same machine?

what score do you consider to be osteoporosis.  I am at -2.1 and -2.2  I am not taking the medication for it.  trying to go natural.

That is only osteopenia and no drugs should be even offered. -2.5 and worse is osteoporosis so your scores are not too bad at all. You will probably be able to pull those back further. All the best to you to do that.

You should be able to turn this around without any drugs. Good luck

The WHO rather randomly selected -2.5 as the dividing line between osteopenia and osteoporosis.  What we need to remember that there is a lot more to consider than this number.  It doesn't, for example, tell us whether our bones are healthy and flexible, or whether they are brittle.  There is currently no feasible way to check that.  Also there will naturally be a difference between smaller, lighter people and heavier ones.

Yes to all that. If one has awful tscores but no broken bones which is my case there is much to be thankful for.

I have tiny bones and bone on bone in many places.

It is more complicated than a tscore obviously!
