Had my second dexa 2 weeks ago and my results show I have managed to reverse my osteoporosis without pharmaceutical drugs My doctors were more surprised than I by the results. It is achievable with a little research and discipline .

Hello Angela I am researching alternative treatments for osteoporosis. Can you please help me giving me info about what you did?.

Hi Yolanda.  Please be aware that I think my exercise has been at least as important as the supplements.  I bought an expensive bones supplement (capsules, take 2 three times a day) which had calcium hydroxyapatite in it, as I had read that this was better absorbed by people on prednisone as I am.  I also take Vitamin K2-7 and occasionally magnesium.  Vitamin D3.  Other supplements I take are few, and hopefully help my osteoarthritis, taken since long before bone thinning diagnosis.  I eat a lot of leafy greens, and eat fermented foods of various kinds.

Can you pass on your exercise routine please. I am on Alendronic Acid tablets and have read that they are not all that helpful.

Whether you take prescribed meds or not, exercise and diet are extremely important in managing osteoperosis. I had 2 spinal disc fractures but I still do lots of exercise, but then I always have done. I am sure it's more difficuilt if you don't like excercise or havent done it for a long time. Also our pain thresholds dictate what we can do. If possible have a consultation with a physio who should set you on the right road.
