Weakness and nausea 4 months after gallbladder removal

well it's been 4 months since I had the gallbladder removed on Tuesday and I'm no better. Still persistent nausea no appetite dry wretching or sometimes vomiting in the morning and horrendous weakness. It's been the worst 4 months of my life. Waking up in the middle of the night every night with the nausea sometimes at 230am and can't go back to sleep. Some days it eases off by lunch time some days it doesn't. Have been in and out of hospital and have been told it's a side effect of the surgery and it's very rare. Have found other people who had gone through similar experiences and it can take 6-9 months to recover. Have posted on this before but got little feedback. Just posting again in case there's anyone this has happened to or that they may know of this happening to. Any feedback welcome. Thanks

OMG! So, I'm not crazy after all! l had my gallbladder removed in December 2020 and have been weak and nauseous since then! The thing that baffles me is that l find out more info about this on the internet than l do from the doctors. All they want to do is pump me full of pills to control the symptoms. So glad l decided to search this morning. l will be following this conversation.

hello, i too have had the same symptoms.. i had my gallbladder removed in late april 2021 . and still felt nausea afterwards. had a scope and CT scan done. everything looked fine. it went away for a few weeks while i took pepcid ac at night per direction of my gastroenterologist. slept propped up with extra pillows at night and it helped. then i finished my meds.. felt fine. up until now.. august 2021. so i am now starting the pepcid ac at night again. in the mean time i have scheduled another appointment with my GI doctor to see if something else is going on. i must also mention i started introducing more menu items to my diet the last few months which im sure didnt help. so i am going back on a bland diet as well. you might want to schedule an appointment with your GI doctor to have a scope done. or other tests. thank you, and best of luck!

hi. I hope your feeling a bit better. I had my gallbladder removed 19 days ago and I dont have problems like your having. I am still a little sore but I can eat normal 🤞 it stays that way.

have you tried to eat little and often and watch your fat in take. you may be better having bland foods no skin or fats to allow your liver to do the extra work it now has to do. also have they checked to see whether a gallstones was left behind and has got blocked in a duct? this can happen. I know when I had my op the surgeon told me this sometimes happens but he used a special Xray that checks no gallstones left behind while operating. I wish you well and hope you get sorted. let us know please.
