Weight

Further good wishes to you Graham and maybe you could ask a question for me while you are being detained at NHS's pleasure.

On a much lighter wink Note I'm off to Jamaica early March for a couple of weeks "convalescence" and have been trying to lose a bit of weight so I can get into my holiday trousers(pants to our US cousins). It's not going too well and have been struggling to get down to pre op weight and it suddenly dawned on me, yes I am a bit slow, that the replacement metal must weigh far more than the bone it replaces. Does anyone know the weight of cobalt molybdenum chromium implant. I know yours was ceramic but maybe you or anyone else still in situ so to speak could find out.

Hi Colin will be much easier to lose the weight once all the Christmas temptations are out of the way.  Bad timing to have an operation and be out of action but still have a good appetite!!   Don't stop trying  Besr wishes Annie

And boredom! When you are sat around watching day time TV and exercise is not allowed and you are feeling quite well - what else is there to do! All those leftover chocolates and crisps.... And I don't even like chocolate!! I am pretty hopeful that once we are up and around again weight loss will naturally follow. Thought about a restricted diet but that might just kill of any remaining joy!

I say but some new shorts and make the holiday about getting fit and active. It will be far easier swimming in the sunshine and lovely long walks - salads will be appealing and enjoyed. Enjoy your holiday don't let anything stem the joy of being there - your weight will drop naturally as s

Sounds good advice to me and will definitely make a bit of an effort to enjoy the holidaylol . My big problem is going to be sticking to the 90 deg rule when getting on and off the sun beds he he he! Oh and sun creaming the legs. Just have to get the wife to cream me up cheesygrin

      Stop stop stop!!!

You are making me SO jealous!!!!!!!!!!

It is freezing here and just a flicker of sunshine would be a miraculous moment I can tell you!

What I wouldn't do for a holiday - forget about your weight, smiling enhances looks more than anything anyway - and I am sure you will be doing plenty of that! This is your moment after months of recovery - don't let anything spoil it! Go and have a wonderful time - savour every moment and enjoy swimming and sunshine!

Well me being a Sunbed Diva I'm ashamed to say this was my FIRST question to my Surgeon at my 2 week follow up ( I'm now nearly 10 weeks) As we are away all the time, well very frequently! He said at 12 weeks I could do anything(sun cream) without worry other than pivot round, twist or cross my leg right over at a stupid angle.. He said it's as strong as anything and not to worry at all!!!

We would have been going somewhere the end of the month if my recovery had gone according to plan!! But my injured knee, hamstring and all associated with it have culled me, I've been a prisoner at home besides Physio/ ultrasound for 8 long deme ting weeks!!!!! One more week till my scan & steroid jab then pray I'll be cured and can recover fully & ✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️Somewhere HOT.

      Xx

I have never been a big fan of chocolate or other sweets myself but have become an absolute chocolate pig since my operation! Don't know what that's about. Am lucky that I don't need to worry about weight; could actually use a bit more.

I was so terrified! I am still amazed I actually did it. My mother had a terrible experience with the first hip replacement, I think it was the shock of the operation, and a failed second hip replacement, and unwittingly told me it was ten times worse than childbirth, and put the fear of god into me in combination.

I have lived in fear for years as the hip steadily got worse, and with two little ones the whole situation became fraught to say the least....I don't think I would have/could have done it without the support and guidance on here to be honest. I have all of you to thank for my lovely new hip, and big smile. I am doing okay, not breaking any records for recovery but slow and steadily getting better smile Just feel incredibly grateful to be this far along...

March isn't very far away at all - just enough time to organise your wardrobe and plan your days there!

Oh how funny!!!! Your post made me laugh Gaby!!! So the answer was yes to the sunbed I assume wink Colin will be happy!

What happened to your knee? I

      hope the injection works...

You will get there lovely! I know the endless days inside are so relentlessly boring - I am on week 5 now so can completely empathise, but hopefully this time can be used productively to plan your next trip!

Oh dear peeps .... This is such a sore spot for me - Already gained so much pre- and post-op from 1st THR and even more now afte 2nd one - so dramatic ...

Don't know where to start really - I don't eat much and wish that that was/is the  reason - Don't like chocolate too much and alcoholic beverages are still not agreeing with me ... hmmmm, maybe that is IT !!!! Maybe a daily Martini coctail will make my body happy to lose the excess skin ? I am also blaming the medications I am on ....

Oh well, it will be OK ....
