weight and appetite

I've been on 50mg for around 10 weeks now. I have noticed that my appetite has gone through the roof and I am constantly hungry and eating. The weight is fast piling on. Has anyone else had the same issue?

Hey Shay! I think it's quite common for your appetite to grow once the medication has kicked in. What I notice for myself is, when my anxiety is bad, my stomach feels sick or strange and I can't eat. Once the medication kicked in, and the anxiety started to become less frequent, my appetite came back, and I was able to eat ridiculous amounts of food. You have to consciously limit yourself if the weight gain worries you. Plan out your meals based on how many calories you should be consuming that day and say no when you're driving past Taco Bell and think "hmm... That sounds like a good idea.". Realistically, many adults who don't have an anxiety or depression disorder deal with the same thing. The desire to eat a lot and enjoy food is quite common. Just look up the weight statistics of America...

So really, I don't think it's a side effect of the medicine, but the side effect of feeling normal. Which I would say is pretty awesome! Good luck! smile

      Thanks

It does feel good to feel 'normal' again...whatever normal is

The first time in many many years I feel good, settled and happy. Even if I put weight on, I'd prefer that to going back where I was
