Weight loss during Menopause

Posted , 11 users are following.

Hi there.

Ive posted a few times here and received much support. Ive also spoken a little about weight loss but wanted to post this to specifically address and ask those

who struggle with

weight loss during this time?

My appetite has been really poor for this time period ive been in Meno. 1 yr.

Mainly i notice that i try to eat/push foods/ and do not gain.

for those who have the other problem with weight gain be thankful! The weight loss is scary, and upsetting when you are used to being a healthy normal weight. I would trade over weight vs under any day.

Ive also been dealing with thirst, and its like im not quenching thirst, but have a dry mouth. Mornings are dreadful with huge exhaustion..only a reprieve later in the evening when i feel calmer and safe.

Although my thyroid labs come back normal..im tempted to think that it could be combined with a thyroid issue. It seems like thyroid and Meno share similarities in the symptoms..

Anxiety/depression and this weight/nausea/stomach issue have been the biggest factors impairing my ability to function.

I also know that the gut is tied to the mind, so perhaps this is the problem...

I would love to hear back on your issues pertaining to weight loss, your stories your thoughts.

Thank you and thanks for this forum..

I lost weight too. No appetite and nausea. I recently started going to the gym, cardio and strength training. My appetite is back and so is my sex drive.

    Hi,

I had some issues with low appetite but was forcing myself to eat, lost some weight rapidly after another health problem, thought it may be thyroid but test was normal, so it wasn't that. I asked for a B12 test which confirmed it was borderline, hence GP said no action required. However, I have done some research and I know the level isn't healthy and I've had a lot of symptoms. I've been supplementing and concentrating on B12 rich food to try and increase the level.

I've been doing this for about a month now and appetite has come back, weight has gone back to normal. I'm 50 and started reading about menopause and other people saying low B12 can happen during menopause.

I would have a google around B12 deficiency and see if you have any other symptoms, if so, it may be worth asking your GP to do a blood test.

    Hope this may help.
