What age were you diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheu?

I'm barley able to lift my arms or get up of a morning now and its getting worse, I thought I had done the rota cuffs on both arms as i'm waiting impingement surgery. My hips and knees are also painful and often very stiff. I asked my gp for a blood test for this which will be done on the 11th but he was so dismissive as i'm only 45 - I've had a number of patients have this at an early age which is why i'm curious about what age you were diagnosed please

Hi sharon21683, glad to hear of your journey. At what level did you start DSNS method. Thanks for the info. 🙂

I was down to 4mg a day which controlled my pain well. But it took a good 6 weeks to be completely
Off Prednisone. I even
took .5 mg every third day for a week! I had been on Prednisone for 18 months when I finally was completely off. Good luck!😊

Just turned 51, same as Eileen. I felt waaaaay too young for it! I can't imagine how you must be feeling!

52 is my age of diagnosis, but the intense low back pain that has plagued me since I was 49 has all but disappeared after starting with Pred. The GP simply dismissed it with 'You are getting older' when I went in at 50 years of age with intense pain that severely curtailed my work. I only wish I'd known about PMR then, as it would have saved so much pain and allowed me to lead a much fuller life in work and recreation for these three years.

Snap - I lost most of my 50s to PMR - even after being put on pred I couldn't do things because I was so unfit after 5 years of pain and immobility.
