What are you pleased you can do?

Hi fellow hippies

I'm really happy when I do something new. Like lie on my side! Yay! Each new milestone means the end is in sight. No one will understand the joy of this personal conquest quite like another hippie.

I was thinking it might be helpful to share our triumphs. Not to be competitive but to encourage each other along the road to a new life.

As I said, I can now lie on both sides. Not quite up to sleeping for long periods on either side, but it sure beats being on my back all the time.

What is a personal triumph or joy for you?

Cheers, Kikeena

I was so happy when I walked around our dog park 3 and 1/2 times the other day!! Then I was able to work for 4 hours yesterday and today! 3 weeks out, and feeling pretty good. Really tired tonight though! Happy it's the weekend.

    Hi Kikeena,

Your idea to post our milestones is great! I am 6 + weeks post surgery and I am also getting more comfortable turning and sleeping on my sides for short periods. My energy level is improving and I am walking further and exercising more. I would call it more like discomfort than pain now. I feel like I am turning the corner.

My biggest current milestone, is forgetting all about the hip for several hours at a time, and not just whilst asleep

That is my aim! I can't wait to do that. But right now I want to cut my toenails. I did them before surgery but just can't bring myself to ask hubby to do them. Forgetting is even better!

My happiest milestone was sleeping 8 hours straight last night! I woke up a couple of times to shift positions but straight back off to sleep. I can't even tell you how good I feel today for that.

Ive been waiting almost 3 weeks for it 👍🏼

This may seem trivial, but I was glad when, after the catheter came out, I was finally able to pee normally.  That was somewhere in my second or third week.

I am pleased to be able to move around freely without dreading standing up or sitting down! Seven weeks in and I keep forgetting I have had an operation....have to be reminded what I should still not be doing!

I think I agree with Maggie: going a few hours without even thinking about my hip. I'm just 9 weeks post op now. I taught a full day last week- at the end of the day my hip ached but during the day I had been able to be completely focused on my work. It was great.

While being on this forum I keep looking for something similar to the Facebook 'Like' button. Maybe that's the thinking behind the heart at the bottom of each entry. It says 'vote' but I think I'll use it as I would the Facebook like. To respond to posts without having to answer each one.

    Truth kikeena

Sleeping by side was so excited no one can feel the feeling rather than hippies.

Being able to get on the floor and play with my grand children. Being able to catch them when they run at me yelling "Poppy!!"

Oh and sleeping in my hammock...zzzzz
