What are you pleased you can do?

Hi fellow hippies

I'm really happy when I do something new. Like lie on my side! Yay! Each new milestone means the end is in sight. No one will understand the joy of this personal conquest quite like another hippie.

I was thinking it might be helpful to share our triumphs. Not to be competitive but to encourage each other along the road to a new life.

As I said, I can now lie on both sides. Not quite up to sleeping for long periods on either side, but it sure beats being on my back all the time.

What is a personal triumph or joy for you?

Cheers, Kikeena

YES!  Sleeping on my side is such a great thing... as is not taking so much pain medication- or being in mind numbing pain all day.... YAY!

My moment was maybe Day 14 when I posted

on the forum. Before that I didn't have energy or

interest, my op took over my life temporarily.

lots of you seem to have regained your strength

    before me!

It is all absorbing still. I suspect those who feel they're doing well are most likely to post. I'm still on one crutch, without it I have a horrible limp. The limp means I really can't walk far at all. I had a posterior approach and have had complicated knee replacements so that's slowing me down.

That's why I like to celebrate what I can do. I feel I turned a corner a few days ago and have much more energy. Before I was doing nothing, and not even getting bored doing it.

      How are you doing?

Did you go to one crutch for any reason?

You are the same as me, and I am doing the

'one extra garden each day' and need both

      crutches. Wow.

Don't get discouraged Cathie. We all have good and bad days. One day your telling everyone how good your doing, the next day is a different story. I keep telling myself, one day, one day I will forget all of This and not even think about my new hip.

Try to do one new thing every day, no matter how small you think it is!!

      Blessings

Today I feel I have progressed, now the dreaded

first two weeks are over, thank you for your good

wishes. I am going to go for slow and steady

      as my way forward.

      Hi Cathy

Slow and steady is a good aim. Seeing progress and marking it off gives us hope. But I'm not sure we're at the same point. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and you said you've just finished the dreaded first two weeks?

To get out I have lots of stairs which I can handle. But then there's a steep slope and I haven't braved that yet. So I am stuck at home except for when someone takes pity on me and drives me somewhere. I think I might start driving so I can walk a little more.
