What are your recurrences like?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have Type 2 and since my first outbreak 2.5 months ago, which thankfully only comprised a handful of lesions, a moderate case of urethritis and one swollen/tender lymph node, I have had two possible recurrences, but both times just a single lesion or bump.

Discovered a sore bump in a suspect location while showering yesterday and I didn't even party late or do anything to bring it on, so that sucks. But on the plus side, it seems very mild to the point where I'm not sure!

Are other people's recurrences just a single sore lesion or bump? Or is it simply a pimple?? I have no prodromal signs at all, so no warning, no indication that this is a definite recurrence, and thus no idea if this is really one or not, which is both good and bad!

I am erring on the side of caution regardless and it's obviously better to have it mild than not, but this is not what I was expecting, so I'm interested to know what other people's recurrences are like.

I havent posted in awhile but i JUST got my second outbreak and it was one small leison near my anus.  It only bothers me when i go to the bathroom and wipe.

My frist outbreak was maybe 3 tiny leisons around the same area. I was debating if i should let it run its course like i did the first time or if i should take the medication. i HATE medication lol

Thanks for replying, and that's just like mine, btw! I only vaguely notice it now when wiping, too. Barely hurts and I can't make much out with a mirror and flashlight, lol. Just looks a bit pink and raised, near the bottom of the vaginal opening.

Did you get any prodrome? That would be useful to have. Also, which type do you have and for how long? I am having a bit of an allergy/sinus issue at the mo due to a change in the weather. Wonder if my allergy thingy triggered it. Anyway, since it's practically nothing, I'm not going to take any meds. Just see what happens again, lol.

mine is definately managable without medication too but it did take 2 weeks the first time for them to go away on their own. I didnt notice any signs of an OB before hand which is weird. I havent been drinking, im not sick, im not stressed, so i have no idea what could have brought this on.

My dr gave me the generic of valtrex (1 pill twice daily for 3 days). I just took my first one now so i might as well just finish it out. Im curious to see how fast the medicine works.

Also, as silly as this sounds, i use my phone camera to take a picture (with flash) so i know whats going on down there! lol.. it works like a charm!

Im still thankful that this is a mild case

The first "maybe recurrence" I had went almost as fast as it took me to notice it, so I did nothing then either! Very weird. Are you Type 2 as well, btw? Had it for long? Just curious to compare!

Yes, type 2 and as far as i know I've only had it for 2-3 months. i was "diganosed" in october.

so this is only my 2nd OB

Similar again! First possible recurrence was maybe due to alcohol and a late night out too soon, as I had nothing up till then. This one I'm guessing is tied to my allergy. Only thing I can think of that's different. I'm old school and prefer a mirror and flashlight. :p

I wish i knew what caused mine so i can stop doing whatever it is but i have no clue lol!

I noticed this OB 2 days ago and only today it started to hurt when i pee. im not sure i want to wait 2 weeks for it to go away so hopefully the medicine works quick. lol

Recurrences are supposed to be milder, less symptomatic (but I thought more than this!) and quicker to resolve, so you might have found that it would have cleared in just a few days without meds. My first solo lesion was there and gone in maybe 2-3 days, if that. Plus it was barely noticeable. First outbreak lesions took at least 2 weeks to go, however.

May I ask what a recurrent lesion looks like? Is it like the 1st but smaller?

The first suspect solo lesion looked exactly the same as the first time. Same location, too. This one just looks pink, feels a little sore to the touch, and is almost in the same place as one I had originally. Very unremarkable, hence my post. I thought recurrences would be more apparent, and was hoping I'd have prodromal signs to give me a heads-up.

I ask because for the last 2 weeks (ish) I have had an irritation down there. Skin is red and feels chaffed/burning. It doesn't hurt when I pee at all and feel more like rubbing, like wearing a thong that is rubbing. I went to the doctor twice and she doesn't know what it is. There is nothing to swab and she said nothing looks herpatic. There is a small bump, barely recognisable, but it hasnt changed and she said it is just a regular "pore/gland" - teeny, tiny - that I can see because of the irritation. Nothing actually hurts, just more irritating, but I am at my wits end. Stressed is not the word for it.

Because this one is not on my inner labia, it just looks like a very small bump or not even. Only signs that it's there is that it's a bit sore when wiping and the skin looks a bit pinker than the rest. Stung a tiny bit in the shower, too. That's all. I'm guessing this is it, but like I said, I was expecting something more obvious. Anything "different" down there could be a recurrence at this rate!!

I think that is what is driving me insane. Anything I feel I immediately think HERPES! This doesn't sting when I wipe or in the shower. Just red close to perenium on inner labia.

Sounds like roughly the same place as mine, except mine's pink, lol. But, yeah, I also have the slight soreness, but very subtle. I actually couldn't work out where the soreness was coming from at first. Had to feel around and "fake wipe" to work it out, haha. Is yours near or at an initial lesion site? Because this one is also very near one from my first. That could be the indicator, perhaps.

This isn't anywhere near my initial site. In addition, this is more irritating than my first ob. I pointed this spot out to my doctor who thought nothing of it. Said it was regular and just irritated. Nothing herpatic. The whole area irritated, about the size of a 10c coin. As I said, it's been a week and they are exactly the same. No change. Area slightly redder but no change in that dot.

Also, my pcr swabs came back negative. I was convinced I had an allergic rash the first time. But now I don't know what I have.

Oh, right, I remember now! Maybe it's a rash, something fungal? Are you going to swab this one, too?

I thought she would swab it but she said it is nothing to swab. Like an inflamed gland but that is it. Stressed out to the max. Also, not really a blister it a lesion.just a bump.
