Hi ladies, has anyone snored more since going through the menopause?

The last year apparently I am snoring really loudly & wondered whether its linked? x

    • Edited

No snoring...cuz I never sleep! But, I have heard snoring can be linked to sleep apnea...(my dr has asked me if I snored before)

    • Edited

According to my hubby its horrific but it was never a problem before! I wondered whether its due ti weight gain x

It could be! Also, depending on what position you sleep in...tell hubs to use ear plugs!

With the loss of estrogen, our muscles lose their firmness ans this includes the muscles in our throat. I developed sleep apnea because of it. I have a more narrow breathing passage way to begin with which put me at risk for sleep apnea. Once I hit menopause I too started snoring so i went in for a sleep study. Glad I did as I was found to have moderate sleep apnea for sure. I now use a C Pap machine at night. Keeps me asleep longer and I'm not keeping my husband up at night because of my snoring. You may want to ask your dr about this.
