What caused your fibro?

Hey everyone
I hope you have managed to have an easy weekend.
As the title suggests I was just curious to see what reasons people have been given for the appearance of their fibromyalgia.
Mine started about 2.5 years ago. I had nasty accident which involved me having a fall. I ruptured two ligaments in my ankle, injured my shoulder and neck.
3-4 months later I developed more widespread pain and severe stabbing pains in my shoulders, hips and knees. I also had restless legs and random twitching over my body. Then came the migraines, insomnia and exhaustion.
I was told recently by my rheumatologist that my fall caused my fibromyalgia. I can't believe I have this horrendous illness for life because of a fall!

I really can't believe there isn't more research out there into what causes fibro or even an effective treatment!
I hope you get somewhere with your specialist.

I had the same pressures from friends who continued to be skeptical .
Now that they have some type of unseen illness they get it.
Just because the pain doesn't show doesn't mean your body isn't racked with pain and mind fog.

I feel so embarrassed still, I can't do half of what I used to.
I was due to get married last year but we have postponed it for a few years in the hope I would get better. Now I know I have fibro and won't get better I don't know when or if we can get married.
We would love to have children too but how can I now? I can barely hold down my part time job now which would be impossible with a baby!
This illness really does ruin lives.

Now there are many ways to treat FM. A good rheumy is a good start as they now have a better understanding of the many causes for FM.
After many years I learned the catch phrase for all the symptoms for the pain finally had a name ,FM.
Everyone responds differently to different types of treatments. A good rheumy has a better understanding of FM. There are some good meds to help with treatment now than ever before. DEMARDS & bio drugs
Also chronic illness can take a toll on our spirits. Also anti depressants helped a great deal. I found to maintain a good attitude also helped me feel better.
I have done well with OTC meds after trying several prescription drugs for fibro that made me sick. I am very sensitive to meds.
I do phisio exercises, for strenghing core and body muscles. Eat fresh foods no sugars, fried or refined foods and massage treatments really helps me the most. Drink lots of water.
I hope you find the treatment to help you the most. It takes time and patience to stick with a good program.
