Hi,

You know how vain us females are - what's the best clothes to pack for a replacement hip operation.

Is it nightgown or pj's?

Is it trousers or skirt/dress for daytime?

I was 39 when I had THR so for me it was stretchy pjs at night , during the day I had the baggy kind of leggings that got tighter at bottom.. Did my makeup every morning coz it gave me something to do.. And as someone said earlier even if you feel ill you feel a bit better with the makeup on.That was after I took about an hour to have a shower and practice how to do it with the grabber, sock putter oner.. U will be sore no dought .. I had nerve pain after mine but I was determined to know how to use these aids to get socks trousers on safely .. Oh and get pants (big ones) and size bigger because it is very sore when the elastic sits on your scar and your bum will be swollen lol.. Hope that helps. X

    Hi Paula

I had a RTHR ten days ago and although we all have our own preferences my advice is as follows

    1. Take in nighties ( not too long) at least for the first couple of days - much easier to deal with bed pans and catheters ( if you need one)! Sorry but I wanted to tell it like it is!

    2. After that wear what you feel most comfortable in either nighties or pyjamas or jogging bottoms / trousers and top but make sure they are loose fitting. Easier to get on and off as your leg (s) can get quite swollen. You' ll soon get the hang of putting them on with your "grabber".

    3. Buy some big (full) knickers that are maybe a size larger than you usually wear. Again easy to get on and off and more comfortable over wound.

best of luck for your op x
