What are the common symptoms/feeling of improvement? Do you just wake up one day feeling normal?

I am currently starting my 4th week on fluoxetine 10mg in the am. Insomnia is bad and don't start feeling normal until like 3pm anyone else have this? If so how long does it last having a hard time being patient.

I have been on this medication for nearly 2 years now. At first, I felt exactly as you do. It actually made me feel worse instead of better. I asked my GP if there would be a problem taking the medication at night in order to sleep through the effects. The advice I was given was that its ok as long as its the same time each day. This sorted all my issues of the tiredness and I am feeling incredibly good now and hope to be able to come off them within the 6-12 months smile

Do you remember how long the insomnia lasted?

To be honest the insomnia never stopped for me until I started taking the tablets at night. I would really recommend you speak to your gp about doing this. It really made a big difference for me. Its a great medication (in my opinion) once its in your system and working as it should. Stick with it.

So approx 18 months ago i started taking 20mg Fluxotine to help relieve symptoms of anxiety. Luckily for me my anxiety came as a result of a bad break up, it hit me very hard and my mind was constantly wandering, im a single father to 2 boys aged 10 & 12 so i really have to be on top form at all times. So as i said, my anxiety was circumstantial as opposed to a chemical imbalance as such, however they were prescribed to me none the less.

Bad news is, it took a while for both the medication and CBT to kick in, however when i learned that anxiety is controllable, when i understood the importance of mindfulness and focusing on the here and now, i feel like a different person.

A few words of advice from someone that has suffered very bad with it and is now nearly out the other side, do not take it upon yourself to simply stop taking them, a friend told me that ages ago and i didnt listen, i stopped a few times and going cold turkey, as such, isnt a good idea.

Look at those around you, close friends etc, are they also adding an additional amount of anxiety to your life? If the answer is Yes, then please do what took me nearly a year to do, and distance yourself from them, once you make that move you will never look back.

Go easy on the beer guys, its a major depressant and will add to your symptoms without a doubt, i went sober for October (2018) and never felt as good, even since its like my body has been reprogrammed and the thought of a heavy session and sebsequent hangovers and depression isnt an option at all!!!

You WILL beat this, i never thought for a second that i would make it through and im stronger now than ever, i know that's a bit cliche but its the truth. TALK to your friends or family about your issues, that will also help relieve your stresses. if all else fails, please message me direct on here, if i can offer any advice to one person that will give them some added strength then that will make this entire ordeal worthwhile,

    YOU HAVE GOT THIS!!!!!

I know it's been a while since this feed was started. I've been encouraged by the comments made of improvement and to just keep going. I'm wondering if katecogs is still around?
