    Hi Kel

Definitely nt wear first wk or two. I then found it easier to wear dresses that go over your head. (My op was May so it was warm then) or a skirt &top. you will need help getting pants on or use your grabber, I found it to much messing, also try keep pants away from scar area.

    Happy healing xx

      Hi Brenda

I wore a skimpy nightie and light dressing gown n hospital. I went in in wide leg joggers and a tee shirt as they get you up and walking either day 1 or 2

When I got home. I have a retired husband and have worn the wide leg joggers and loose tops. Once your clips come out my skin around the wound site was very dry. I bought some good body lotion and massaged this in twice a day. I have bio oil but you cannot use this for a few weeks.

I am nearly 3 weeks post op. One of my friends recommended a homeopathic remedy which assists healing once off the heavy pain meds. Now I would have laughed at this. However after taking them for a week I swear by them now.

Please do all of your exercises. I had spinal block and GA. with hindsight I would do spinal block and light sedation. You recover so much quicker without the aftermath of the GA. they gave me choices.

Takes a while to get used to sleeping on your back but you will get there. Good luck with your op and recovery and keep us fellow hippies posted. This site is great even if you just want to winge. Love light and healing x

Hi - I wore a skimpy nightie and a light dressing gown  because, like most hospitals, the one I was in was boiling hot day and night.   When I went home, it was of course jogging bottoms, so easy to pull up.    Good luck.

Easier to go to bathroom with a nightie to just pull up. Pants involve leaning over and pulling up. Youll be peeing alot the first few weeks.

    Hi Kel

I wore a nightdress at night, but during the day I had baggy shorts and t-shirts...  the nurses are wonderful in helping...

Once home I carried on with this regime and putting on joggers if I was going for a walk around outside.

I did not have any staples I had disolveable stitches and glue!!  so maybe that is why I could wear baggy shorts and joggers.

Hi I am 3 weeks post op I found it better to wear nightie that come to knee I also found it easier to wear jogging pants because u can not bend it was hard for me to shave my legs so I got a piece of bamboo stick and tapped my razor to the end so I can shave my own legs without having t ask my husband

That made me laugh... my husband went a bought me an electric shaver.... and taped it to a long handled wooden spoon.... should have seen his face when I asked him to shave my legs.!!  having had op in August did not want to wear long trouser items.....

?I then said "my toenails"  well that caused hysterics... he looked at me and said "seriously"... treated me to pedicure... lol xx

For the guys reading this ............. I found loose fitting "summer shortie pj's" were best (even in winter as the hospital ward was so warm) - I could get the bottoms on by using the walking sticks reversed - so hold the stick at the bottom end, and use the handle to hook in and pull up your clothes.

Walking sticks have a variety of uses - opening and closing windows, putting on clothes, getting at clothes that were on a chair next to the bed, and once to press the emergency call button when I was fainting due to low blood pressure.

I used my crutches upside down.. and like pinsers to pick things up.... funny how we adapt to our situations.

I have done the same as others here and recommend wearing clothes that go over your head. Elastic waiste kaftans etc.  Also wore adult diapers that snap in front and socks are impossible used sock helpers. Also wore slide on shoes. Many aides for dressing as well as bathroom, auto accessories are available at local medical center. I still use my reacher for many things as bending has always been a problem for me.

    Heeling wishes sent your way.
