My experience was brill . Walked to theatre at 9 . Had general as was told you are up out of bed quicker . Told I would feel drowsy but can't remember feeling it or anything till heard someone saying we are taking you back Mary . Was on ward at 12.45 having toast ant tea at 2 . Apparently in theatre for hour and a half . 4 weeks in now and aching more than I was hope that's the muscle and fact that I am getting fed up . Good luck

Just gone 60 . My friends all thought I was young to have it done so did I till I joined this forum . Can't believe how many young people need it ! When I got to the anti room nurse said get onto bed this is the bed you will be operated on so they didn't need to move me once I was asleep . If I need it again I would go for general . My hospital has ERAS programme  early recovery after surgery . Sachets to dilute and drink before op and anti sickness pill just before op . Brill no after effects .

There was a piece on the national news (US) this week, they said the number of people needing hip replacement between the ages of 55 and 70 has tripled in the past two years and those under 55 has doubled!  But they did not give a reason why....

Wonder if it's because of all the running  jogging. Gym etc people have been doing recently ? Certainly not in my case

Ye it's well worth it cause the noises are very strange. I even watched the op wen I got home just to see wat they had done

I was on the table 1hr 10 mins but it probably depends on the way the op is done, anterior, posterior etc.

It was 45 minutes for me. I had the mini invasive. Incision was only 3" long and I had the spinal injection with sedation. Very quick and you wake up right away with the spinal/sedation. However, every one is different depending on the condition of the hip to be replaced. I live in the U.S. so I think things may be done a little differently.

    Good luck!
