Hi I had my TKR on 9th January, my job is like you is standing all day, my work have rang me from the day I got out of hospital 15th January every week up until this day asking when I'm returning , I got a letter today asking me to a formal meeting next week with my boss and HR, I'm going to the meeting to see what they say, after standing for a period of time or walking my knee swells a Lot and is very pain ful , I am still on pain meds at night. Only you can decided when you go back , if you are using a stick I would say it's a bit early for you, I use a stick if I've done to much . It would be easier if it was an office job. Do not rush it xx

If your not ready to go back to work don't go.

Get sick note from your doctor. Then they have to give you the time off.

You can't rush back when your going to be on your feet all day.

I feel worn out just getting out of bed and doing all my exercises.

Everyone is different unfortunately but I know some work places are quite strict about how long you’re off.   I also work in a school and on my feet most of the 5 hours, I went back on a phased return at 3 months but I had no walking aids at that point.   Full time by 5 months.  Maybe you need to check your terms of employment before your meeting so there are no surprises. Good luck with it all. Sharon

I was off work 6 month with each knee. Don't go back before you are ready, you won't be doing yourself any favours if you do.

Thank you David it does depend on the type of job you are doing I work in a school kitchen not a sitting down job. So I will go back when I know I am safe and when my consultant says it is ok.x

If you are a union member it may be an idea to ask their advice re the meeting. I'm sure you can have someone with you in the meeting.
