Where are all the missing people?

I'm wondering if we have lost a lot of people who had been on for a long time. I know I almost gave up with frustration but hung on and now I have got the hang of this forum again I am managing to work it out but I cannot get the emojis.......just a square. Perhaps that sums me up.....square. Now that gives away my age! I am missing the 'oldies' though it's good to have some new company. Perhaps they have all gone in to remission, in which case, I'd like to know how they are and any tips they may have. I know. We're all different so it won't necessary work for us all but it's good to know.

Meantime, I'm thinking of changing my name to Michelin. I am about to look out my padded black coat and hitch a ride on the Michelin tyre lorry. I could give the wee ( Scottish for small) man on the lorry a fright and do him out of a job but it'll be a wee bit cold on top of the cab now. My English cousins found our use of the word wee hilarious. We have snow gates in use and roads closed already...........unusual for October.

Thank you, val 26097. I am nice and cosy. I noticed the north east of England had snow. It will maybe reach the south yet. Keep cosy.

    Hi ho silver49

Och! silver so it's a wee bit cold in the heelands of Scotland. It is pretty cold in Wales too, but no snow as yet! Yes, it is time for our mitchelin coats as winter draws on. I don't know if it was my imagination when i was on pred and had PMR, but i always felt worse in the cold weather. I felt i could tolerate pred side effects a little better in summer months. I expect it was because i could get out more during summer whereas i was housebound a lot in the winter. Do you find that?. I hope the forum members who have been quiet of late return to the forum because it is helpful and encouraging to get other opinions and recommendations.

Hope your not too housebound due to adverse weather conditions at the moment in Scotland. If you do go out wrap up warm with your mitchelin.....and not your kilt otherwise 'twould be a bit chilly in the nether regions!!😂😂😂.....

Gave the Michelin man coat an outing this afternoon, mary 19068. Thought I was going to melt. I think it was the wooley scarf. I don't think it was quite as cold as I had anticipated. Had kilts as a child and that was enough for me. I agree that I feel colder in the winter and I never used to feel the cold. I'm certainly not housebound but if it's icy I don't venture out if I can help it as I don't want to break any limbs. The hospitals fill up with fractures without me adding to the statistics.

I was surprised how mild it was in the sun. I went into the garden wearing a gilet to plant some bulbs and to prune the roses and felt fine. It is getting cold now though.

I'm afraid I wasn't that brave. Perhaps it was ok in the sun but it disappeared at one stage. A lovely satisfying feeling and the bulbs will give a splash of colour in the spring. I'm sure you will have felt the better of the fresh air and a top up of Vit D in the sun.

How did you get those emoji's??? I just tried again and I got boxes! Are you using a laptop or PC, as I'm using an IPAD and sometimes that can make a difference on some sites.

And totally agree with you regarding the cold weather versus warm weather and how it makes us feel. I know when its cold wet and miserable through our winter months I become a bear. I stay inside, I don't get out walking, watch way too much Netflix and I stiffen up because of it. Then like a butterfly the sun comes out, the weather warms up and on that very first sunny day I'm out in the garden madly trying to get rid of the weeds that took over in winter.

Yes, it has suddenly turned cold, hasn't it? I'm looking out at the snow on Ben Wyvis!

A lot of the conversations on here recently have been about the new look of the forum - perhaps folk have wondered off until things settle down; I do hope they come back. It'll be good to get down to business again! 😂 (I get emojis (on a Mac) by going to the Edit menu, then Emojis & Symbols.)

I love all the Scottish expressions! I have a Scottish colleague so hear them all the time. I think I'll stop typing now as it's so much more tedious now.... Keep warm! I'm in London and it's freezing here today, but we were warned it would be cold this weekend. No snow, but I'm wearing my gloves now. Take care.

I meant to reply to Silver49, but this new format doesn't seem to be compatible with my phone, and my reply jumped and I ended up replying to another post!

We're nice and cosy here with the fire lit. The snow is only very high up in the mountains, >2000ft, none lower down. Keep warm in London!

MhairiP, I know I have back off on the forum and no were as active. Get doing other other things and out of the habit of checking in on the forum. I use my cellphone for the forum and for awhile it was impossible. I am in the mountains of New Mexico at around 7,500 ft, the peak of 10,000 are all white. We might have a good ski season. Think positive 🙂

I'm waiting for people to stop going on about the "new format" and I'm not bothered re emojis - never use them.

I noticed sometime previous, MhairiP that you mentioned something that made me think you live around the Inverness area. I was up in the summer and there was no snow on the Ben. I'm hopeful that folk will be back. It has become a bit more user friendly again and it will, hopefully, improve even more.

Is it thermal time yet in the Sneck?

I haven't dug out the gloves yet, Claire JG, and I think it may have been a bit warm for the woolly scarf.

I used to curl and some people would be on the ice in T shirts. Not me......thermal vest, top, jumper and fleece. If there was enough sweeping I would remove the layers. If I was skip they stayed on. One person didn't wear any socks. I felt cold looking at her. PMR has made me a bit wary of returning to this particular sport but never say never. Have fallen on the ice in the past and my pride had me upright immediately. I'm not sure if I could get up now!!!!

      Keep warm .

I miss the emojis on the old forum - especially the little rolling eyes one.

    • Posted

I loved the little rolling eye ones and some other moving ones. They said it all..........not that I managed to work out how to do them but I could manage the static ones. I know both you and Eileen used them and often they raised a laugh..........at least for me.

It is the fact that if you try and use an emoji it comes out as a question mark in a box  Apart from the skull. ☠

Yes, you're right - just to the east of Inverness. It's not quite thermal time here yet, but it soon will be, I'm sure!

    • Posted

It will depend on the device. I usually see emojis.

I loved this reply as I am trying to picture the mountains of New Mexico. ( I'm an obsessive traveller). I wished you could put a photo on so we could all enjoy the view. Then I realised we can now add pictures. Yeah right ! (NZ saying) I tried to place a photo of my view. hmmmm I havn't sorted that out yet. This new age digi tech confusion has taken our minds of our achey problems for awhile.
