why do i constantly feel nausea?

I am constantly feeling sick!! it doesnt start first thing in the morning but throughout the day it just emerges. its now at the point where i choose not to eat if i feel sick because i completely loose my appetite, which is making it worse because im then hungry too( but eating just makes it worse)
I also have severe emetaphobia (the fear of vomit) so i am constantly worried about being sick due to it(another reason i dont eat if i feel sick, to prevent vomiting)
I have counselling for the emetaphobia so when i feel sick it is cast off as being 'in my head' by my counsellor and family.
i feel like i am stuck because i dont want to go to the doctors incase they give me any medication that has vomiting as a side effect but i cant keep feeling the way i feel because it is taking over my life.
There has got to be a cause for the nausea, i refuse to believe it is my 'anxiety' from emetaphobia that is making me feel this way.
I sometimes have really bad headaches that last for 5-10 minutes consisting of sharp pains in the head and over the eyes. I also have shooting pains in my lower abdomen, but whether this is linked to the nausea i dont know.
Any suggestions????

It is after a round of antibiotics because your body has had all the good organisms killed by the antibiotics too. I get sick just fixing food so needless to say I can't eat it. I don't have any anxiety over being lik thisi because I've been sick so long. I did get a thorough internal medicine work up and I have a tumor on my pituitary gland and it shut down like every hormone in my body and now I take even more meds. My primary one is for the tumor a steroid that's keeps it from getting larger. Oh they could take it out but it won't make the pituitary gland start working again so It's beat left alone. So my second medicine is a nausea medicine. It he
ps prevent the nausea but I still get sick so I've got a slew of zither meds for everything just about. Being as I'm 60 I have lived with this for a long time and while I've learned to cope with it I realize it's normal for me.
So that's the best advice I can offer to everyone who can't find a reason or if you do have some thing wrong, you have to adjust to a new normal. Once you do, a lot of anxiety will ease and if people don't understand that you are sick and need extra time to do things or stuff like this then let them know their attitudes need an adjustment too.
After all when you are sick it's not easy to out up with other people and if they are critical it's not helpful. And you want to avoid stress. Other people's attitudes can stress you even more than you realize. Let yourself understand you are sick and it's ok. Sooner or later we all get sick, that's being human. While some of us get worse over time or get better over time, it's your normal. Live with whatbyouncan and cannot accomplish and adjust your expectations of yourself too. Since I decided to stop trying to please the world at large and worry about myself instead I've been much more able to cope.
I'm not saying you should be rued or anything, but just realize just as people have a right to their feelings so do you. Loved ones can be your biggest support group too. Just let them know that you need them. You'll be nursed how many people will be willing to help, you when you're sixk.
I love the idea of carrying a plastic back for emergencies. Great idea.

I have the same problems I also have emetaphobia unfortunately and my life is so hard. I am very tired and depressed all the time. I am not sure what problem caused the other; depression caused the phobia and the sickness feeling all the time or vice versa.
I can't sleep all the time and my job is very critical since I work as a high level network support engineer for a very well known company "Largest Networking company in the world". I deal with big customers everyday, like Governments, Armies, IBM, DELL, APPLE, etc. So what i am trying to explain here is that my job is really critical and not easy at all It is very stresful and I need to have enough hours of sleep in order to work efficiently but I cannot have that since I have this damn problem.
I always have the sickness problem (nausea) at night most of the time and when I feel like that I become so afraid and my heart starts beating fast "Panic" and I get very tired. In the morning and after noon I feel much better.
Why do I feel sick only at night. Btw, i had an endoscopy twice and i was diagnosed with a "Esophageal reflux" and a "IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome" but i am sure that these don't cause the sickness feeling.
I wish that one day I can sleep like a baby without feeling sick or afraid.
Appreciate all the help

I want to start off by saying that I know exactly how you are feeling. I didn't realise there were actually others out there with a fear of being sick. I have had that fear on and off since I was a child, I remember it started with a flu or something and I suppose I just really didn't like being sick (particularly not in public) so I became afraid of it.
In in all the years that I have experienced it, I have gained a few insights. First, the mind is very powerful. Just give yourself time and believe me, no matter how awful it seems right now, it gets easier with time. Try to take your mind off it and do whatever you need to do to be more at ease. If you are anxious about exams at college, remember that even if you get sick and have to leave before you are allowed to it doesn't matter because you can probably just arrange to take the deferred exam instead (which usually has way less people). Usually there are many ways 'out' of a situation (I.e. Taking a toilet break from a work meeting) and if you just keep them in mind while you defer using them then eventually you will see how capable you are of sitting through the stressful situation without needing to escape. These little victories are part of the key to beating this anxiety.
It is also true, however, that sickness anxiety is partially caused by feeling physically sick! (At least in my case, but probably yours too). Some people mentioned lactose intolerance. Dairy is actually very hard on the body of every person, lactose intolerant or not. If you want to stop feeling heavy, bloated and sick stop eating so much dairy. Try watching Walter Veith 'Udderly Amazing'. If you wake up in the morning feeling fine but you get increasingly sick during the day, your food might be the problem. Eat bread every morning like I did? You might be sensitive to wheat! If you are, then no surprise if you feel ill before going to work, thus causing you to feel anxious. There are so many possibilities here so just try to look for patterns. Try switching to oatmeal with honey and raisins for breakfast. I Never feel nautious after that :-)
This anxiety pops up at stressful times in life so it never really goes away, which is actually normal if you think about it. But if you make a habit of eating wholesome, nutritious food (fruit, vegetables, beans, whole grains like rice etc.) then atlèast you won't feel quite as bad when it comes. Exercise, sunshine and fresh air and meeting new people are also very helpful.

l get severe nausea from waking to bedtime, gets worse with movement exertion,
sitting still reduces it to moderate, moving to severe, lve to do essential jobs in 5-10min before it gets severe, often meaning having to lean on something gasping, then sit till it passes, going to shops an endurance having to stop every 5oyds to rest, at worst l can feel ill with it, flushed, or cold, swollen abdomen sore in parts, and belching. lve no appetite, cant eat normal meal,s, just tea biscuit or toast, lve only vomited once, after eating quiche, but think l would vomit if l tried to eat normally, but dont have phobia of vomiting, thats not a problem for me, just nausea in main, near persistent for last 5month, with bouts of weeks at a time in year prior. lve had scope which showed a bit of gastritus, but not sure it explains constant nausea, l did have acid reflux diagnosed years ago, but it didnt cause any probs once gall bladder removed. lve recently been on ppi,s from ologist, others pills from gps in past, tried gaviscon, ginger, nothing stops it. Because l dont get diagnosis or treatment that works after seeing different docs l began to think if anyone else had same experience, l did take anti b,s for a long time as prescribed, have thought about gluten lactose intollerance, but hardly drink milk and dont get the pain that many seem to get with those conditions, lve lost about half a stone, but l,m less active due to it, but notice my nails now are worse then theyve ever been short splitting, A gp said to me it doesnt make you tired, she should try feeling like this constantly, it is tiring. So know how you feel lina and others who are still struggling. l cant dispute that l and others can experience anxiety which adds to it, but l have to odd day or two now and again when the nausea is mild and it feels so good, like coming out of fog to some normality and a bit of energy, motivated, catch up on neglected jobs in house garden, enjoy going shopping rather than endure it, then its back, tiresome to put it mildly, so l,m stil battling for cause and cure. If anyone from earlier posts has found reason and treatment please post, good luck to all.

french fries hash browns baked, bananas, do eat bread, wholemeal, seeded, take probiotics. How much is due to diet change, omprazole, stopping anti bs, any meds other than essentials, taking supplaments
But in recent weeks, like a poster above, have started with neck pain down into back arms hands, pelvic, ankles, and have had abnormal fatigue, gagging if going without a drink for more than 30min, sore sticky eyes.Quite a few women with intersticial cystitus also get myalgia. sjorgens, simular symptoms, butnow wary of taking pain killers, darent risk the nausea coming back, and l still do get odd times of bloating discomfort and belching a lot, can only eat small meals due to it, lv to go see doc yet, but often learn more from the mbs than them. l think some are more prone to immune allergy problems, all differ in immune systems efficiency. Though some will have different causes. Anyway, l hope all you who are still battling to cope with nausea will find cause and solution, keep battling, and best wishes.

I have had the same symptoms for years (I am now 21), and it can be really frustrating, especially when everyone says it's "all in your head."
It's good that you've had lots of tests done. I think the best advice I can offer you is to do an elimination diet. There are tons of resources all over the web on how to do one. It can't hurt in any way: no side effects, no dieting/starving yourself, and you might actually figure out if the cause is related to food. You might have sensitivities to many different foods! I was initially skeptical, because I had tried cutting out things one at a time to no avail. The elimination diet works though because you get everything bad out of your system for 3 weeks, and then slowly introduce things back in one at a time to figure out what is wrong.
I hope you can feel better. I know how difficult it can be to live with nausea that seems like it has no cause, especially if you are emetophobic (I am too!). The best thing about the limination diet is no side effects, so you won't have to worry about vomiting from the experiment.
I know the diet is really hard, so you have to really be prepared for it. If you get lots of healthy food, you can do it!
I hope it goes well for you, and you figure out what is wrong!

I tried the elimination diet but unfortunately, it made no difference. I have been seeing a councillor and we figured out that it is a Generalised Anxiety Disorder. My anxiety has come from my stomach aches. The doctors think i have IBS. Im taking Buscopan to help my aches and cramps. I just have to deal with this until I can manage it.
