why do i constantly feel nausea?

I am constantly feeling sick!! it doesnt start first thing in the morning but throughout the day it just emerges. its now at the point where i choose not to eat if i feel sick because i completely loose my appetite, which is making it worse because im then hungry too( but eating just makes it worse)

I also have severe emetaphobia (the fear of vomit) so i am constantly worried about being sick due to it(another reason i dont eat if i feel sick, to prevent vomiting)

I have counselling for the emetaphobia so when i feel sick it is cast off as being 'in my head' by my counsellor and family.

i feel like i am stuck because i dont want to go to the doctors incase they give me any medication that has vomiting as a side effect but i cant keep feeling the way i feel because it is taking over my life.

There has got to be a cause for the nausea, i refuse to believe it is my 'anxiety' from emetaphobia that is making me feel this way.

I sometimes have really bad headaches that last for 5-10 minutes consisting of sharp pains in the head and over the eyes. I also have shooting pains in my lower abdomen, but whether this is linked to the nausea i dont know.

Any suggestions????

Wow its 12 months ago. Im not from uk thou. i am from singapore but as i search the net i found this site. Have u found any solutions? I am in 95% same situation as u whereby i feel sick the whole day, frequently felt like vomiting but somehow my body stop it or feels like my body stop the vomit b4 it reaches my throat. and worse mostly at night and usually from 12+ to 2+ midnight which is preventing me from sleeping and even makes sweat alot due to anxiety. It has last for over 2 weeks now and im getting more n more fatique. and i would like to know is it really possible to stop ourselves from vomitting? I seem to keep it down everytime i feel sometime coming up but it's making me more miserable... i know in my mind that letting it out will relieve the misery but due to the phobia i kept myself miserable for 2 weeks+...

I have had the same exact symptoms as you for about 4 years, and am constantly told that it is just stress. I am also emetophobic so many people attribute my nausea to that. First, consider that it is partially stress, and work to manage your anxiety (counseling for emetophobia is a good start!).

Of course, I am sure this is not the main reason for your nausea, and often the two are intertwined. There are more receptors for serotonin in the gut than anywhere else, so often if you are stressed/anxious, this will cause nausea, but it is hard to decipher what the actual cause is when you've done all you can to manage your stress.

I suggest doing the elimination diet. I went to many different doctors that all tried to give me different medicines, none of which helped. I couldn't see any connection with what I ate and how I felt (doctors would often say, maybe try cutting out gluten or dairy, but these things did not seem to help). The elimination diet seemed to work for me though. I have learned a lot about my health-- for example, I think I am allergic to dairy (which means something as little as a pat of butter could upset my stomach). Also, stress causes stomachaches, as does my period. Gluten, oats, and popcorn all cause mild pains in my stomach. When you do any elimination diet, you can figure out what is actually causing the pain by changing variables one at a time. Often it seems like you'll never figure it out because there might be a lot of different factors at work.

It may be helpful to get some tests done though (though it sounds scary, an endoscopy might be helpful). You could also get an ultrasound for your gallbladder-- not intrusive, so you don't have to worry about vomiting side effects!

I hope you can figure out what it wrong and get better. I know how frustrating it can be to have your pain and discomfort constantly belittled and denied, but if you keep trying at the cause, you have the potential to feel so much better.

Sounds like GORD. I have had the same problems for 9 months now. A PPI may help, keep a diary of what triggers you. I gotto Te point wherei was eating about 2,000kj a day and lost a lot of weight. Keeping a food dairy really helped with me. The fact that it only starts later in the day makes me say GORD (or gerd depending on where you live). As you eat more "irritating" foods your more likely to reflux and argivate the problem.

by the way, you don't have to have heart burn to have reflux. I don't smile

What antibiotic were you taking before this started? I started feeling this way after I was on amoxocilin however it's spelled. I wonder if that is what caused it?

    Hi tee,

You are not alone. I've been living the 24/7 nausea, night sweat nightmare for a while now. Something that helped take the edge off for me was 5HTP every morning on an empty stomach. I say this but not everyone takes well to it so if you vomit, stop taking it. Also calcium/mag has helped and also, trace minerals, zinc and b6.

Tee, I was also on symbicort and an antibiotic when all this nightmare started.

I know this was posted a year ago but i am in the exact situation word for word. I was always told there is something wrong with me and that it's all in my head. I hated myself for years because of how i am.

If you read this, is there anything at all that helped you?

Please i just want to be normal. Ive been ruining plans with the girlfriend, missing work, missing once in a lifetime concerts.

Speed seeing friends, stopped eating, I'm doing really really bad right now and am in desperate need of help with this

I would think if you are more anxious wondering what is wrong with you maybe you should have a thorough check up.  It could be gall bladder.  I don't know how old you all are but I had a gall stone in the bile duct.  I got pretty sick.

First make sure it is nothing serious after that you can deal with it better perhaps.  Good luck.    PS I found out ice cream sometimes makes me sick --lactose..
