Will I die today? :(

Hi all,
I need reassurance.
I know I am pre-menopausal as I have all the weird symptoms that a lot of you ladies have accept the flushes...yet.
One of the most concerning symptoms is heart related (or not). The doctors all know me at the hospital as I've been there many times, and most recently thinking I'm going into cardiac arrest, or something terrible to do with my heart and I'd keel over.
Everything comes back normal always. So I am led to believe that what I think is heart issues is hormonal. The symptoms usually are shortness of breath, struggling to catch breath and this happens from the evening into the night, and especially when I'm lying down. I have lost so much sleep as I'm scared I will die in my sleep.
Weirdly, I get a feeling like my heart stops, and then I panic and feel pins and needles in my rib/chest/diaphragm area, and a sensation like butterflies. Its odd and uncomfortable which also adds to anxiety. If this is all hormonal then I'm not sure how I can cope with this for how many years. Sometimes I try and focus on other things quickly and it dissipates somewhat, but still scary every time it happens and just wish it wouldn't. I don't want my life to be like this, I'm only 42.
These symptoms are just one of many. I have crashing fatigue, bloated belly out of nowehre, lack of appetite, and when I do eat, I feel so full I can't breathe and my belly expands to pregnancy level, crying all the time, feelings of doom, everyday I think I am dying a horrible disease..I digress.
What to do about the heart stopping sensation, it freaks me out and catches me off guard?. I also notice it comes on when I kneel on a seat, so I get up quickly. But for the most part it just comes on randomly.
Argh, how to survive. Am I better of dead. I'm scared to go for HRT. 😦 Anyway help would be appreciated.

Hi love I completely empathise with you. You are suffering with anxiety and panic attacks which is also exacerbated by perimenapause and all the horrible symptoms that goes with it. I am psychiatric nurse but at 38 I actually had a heart attack and consequently have 2 stents now. I am 52 now. when I started having perimenopause symptoms including anxiety panic attacks and also low mood I was age 44 at the time and would convince myself I was having another heart attack. I would call 999 ambulances end up in a and e only to be told everything was ok and consequently feel like an idiot. I occasionally still have the fear of having another heart attack but much less frequently. I have used CBT techniques on myself and learnt to deal with it but occasionally I get worried still and if you do get concerned then you have every right to get yourself checked but try to use CBT and relaxation try to do the healthy eating a bit and a little exercise but you do not have to be super woman. It is a difficult time I know but try to accept that it is and know that you are not alone. I had a really bad time with this whole menopause thing only a few months ago and found that this forum was the most helpful thing because it makes you realise your symptoms are not exclusive. Dont give up.

Had the exact same thing happen to me! Magnesium glycinate 400 mg per day and it helped tremendously. I was checked out and everything was fine, so during these times I just keep telling myself it is all hormonal, take deep breaths and it does go away 😃

I am not a doctor, but I have heart issues with my peri, I get the irregular heart beat, I also get pins and needles but they are in my hands and feet. I worked out that a lot of it is anxiety, anixety is a cruel hoax. Try to use breathing techniques counting into three hold for three, out to three. Also distractions can help, do something different, watch a show if you have to as you go to sleep. Remember that each time it happens that it has happened before and you are ok. You will get through this x

I can relate totally with you! I also get the heart stopping feeling and it is exactly as you describe. I would sometimes have it every 15 minutes throughout the morning. Usually at the same time of day. Sometimes if I turn on my side at night it would happen. It was one of my scariest symptoms. I haven't had it in about 6 months, so maybe yours won't last long either. I have spent so much money at the emergency room that finally I just accepted the fact that I wasn't going anymore. They never could help me anyway. I just want you to know that I know what you are talking about. It is scary, but it doesn't kill you. Some day you will look back on it as an unhappy memory. Until then, know that we are all here for you. Take care!

Hi loon... Do not despair as you are describing what happened to me... I rushed my self to and e as I thought I was going to die.... This is your body now changing and its awful scary when it kicks off.. The symptoms over take... I actually felt like my body was dying... You are not alone in this... I was on holiday four years ago and felt like I couldn't breath...you need to allow it to pass and know you will be okay..hormones are powerful and affect us deeply when they decline. Please Google the 66 symptoms of menapause featured at this site and you will see what we can go through. There is light at the end of the tunnel it will just take a wee while to get there. It's the change you are experiencing... Keep checking in here for support and hope this helps. CK

I was there in the beginning stages of peri. Twice every week i was at the hospital. Sleepless nights, anxiety sky high, breathing and the list goes on. Racing heart is now gone thank God. That one scared me the most then breathing then anxiety. Seems like you are in the beginning stages, they will pass with time. My doctor told me to do this when you have racing heart and it will slow down the heart rate " Take a deep breath in hold it, Pinch your nose hold it, do not exhale through your mouth, then bear down chin to chest and hold it for 5 seconds then repeat. Now exhale Do this for 3 times. I found that it works. Your heart rate will slow down. Hope this helps. Praying for you

Hi,
Would you mind sharing what your medication is? As well as some food supplements? Also, do you do some exercise?
