Will it ever end?

sad rolleyes

I am 37 years old and about four and a half weeks ago I began experiencing serious dizziness. I knew that this was not normal by any means yet I was not falling over or vomiting. I figured that it was just from me being stressed out or something. A day or two later I realized that it was not going away. The dizziness began increasing especially after a cigarette and a cup of coffee lol. My blood pressure is normal and to my knowledge I do not have any serious illnesses. Yeah yeah I know that its not good for me. However, every time that I would look left and right my head began to spin and ultimately I would have to retire to my couch for the whole day. Luckily I was on vacation during the worse of this. I went to the regular doctors office and was told that I may have a sinus infection yet I showed absolutely no signs of one what so ever. The doc prescribed me Prednisone and told me that if there was any fluid in my sinuses that it will clear them up. That stuff is straight nasty and it caused rapid heartbeat and sleep deprivation for me personally. Yuk! I took the stuff and let it run its course yet it did nothing for me. I went back and saw a different doc and was diagnosed with vertigo. She told me that I probably had a middle ear infection, prescribed me some meclizine and a nasal spray, then sent me on my way. Funny thing about all of this is I have 0 ear pain, no sinus issue that I am aware of, and no wax issue. I took the meclizine and it would make me drowsy but it did seem to work a little. The nasal spray just caused anxiety for me so I stopped taking both. The docs gave me a referral to an ENT. Before I visited the ENT, I decided to go see an eye doctor. I wanted to do this as a process of elimination. I started noticing at work behind the computer or when I was reading books, cell phone, or whatever that I was getting dizzy so this is something that was brought up to the eye doc. Long story short I was sent away by the eye doctor and was told that I have perfect vision. My next step was the ENT. I showed up to the ENT about two and a half weeks after it started and that morning I was feeling better. The ENT tested me for possible vertigo and my symptoms were gone. She said that she thinks I have Labyrinthitis. However she did give me a referral to take an MRI and have bloodwork done. She never mentioned whether I should continue with the meds or not. I just finished the MRI and bloodwork and currently awaiting the results. I am on week four and a half right now. I tried olive oil and peroxcide in my ears and exercises but to no avail. I will say though that most of the vertigo from where I look left and right has left yet I am dizzy. I will sit in certain positions or lie down in certain positions and I get dizzy. when I make a turn in my car or come to a sudden stop I get dizzy. When I read or look at my cell phone for more then 20 seconds I get dizzy. I wake up and get out of bed I am dizzy. The worse of this occurs between 8am til about 2:30-3:00 pm everyday almost. The nights seem to provide much relief. this is really cramping my social life along with my job. My questions to everyone are as follows: Has this happened to any of you out there? If so what did you do? Although I am awaiting test results, if they come back negative for everything then what would be my next step and what is causing this excess dizziness? Help anyone!!!!!!!

Hi can I ask something?? Ive been suffering dizziness for almost 4 months now. It's not spinning sensation. I feel like I am in the boat or water/waving/swaying. And when I am walking or standing I feel something heavy in my head. 'Twas started last June, while I was laying in my bed and scrolling my phone I sweat and everyrhing I see was sliding and after that I feel like in a boat 24/7. Do u guys think I have vertigo/anxiety/TMJ Since I have braces? Pls help me. I am tired going to doctors (I already consulted 8 doctors and EENT TWICE) and drinking meds. Any help would mean so much to me.

I know this thread is ancient, but have you found any relief or answer to your problems?  Your symptoms sound like mine, my head feels heavy like a bowling ball, swaying while standing and while sitting. Feeling like I am falling forward sometimes, mostly I feel as if I am falling backwards. Sometimes, if I am not paying attention, I find that I am falling backwards and have to catch myself.  Also busy environments makes me feel worse, like shopping for instance. Turning my head back and forth makes thing worse. Caffeine makes it worse.  Since this started I have not been able to work. It all started this past December when I was driving and I had turned my head to the left to look at a new restaurant that had just opened up and when I turned it back, I had this horrible dizzy sensation in my head, the environment was not spinning though. It passed after about 15 seconds, but totally freaked me out. I had the next week off from work and it seemed all week long I was feeling off balance, but it didn't bother me too much because I didn't have to drive. Then I had another spell, this time worse. Also when I walk, I feel as though I am drunk. This has been practically 24/7 since it has started. Even in bed, when lying on my side, I feel like something is trying to push me over on my back. When I walk, I have to lean slightly forward to keep my balance. Primary care doc, tried to say it was water in my ear. Gave me an antibiotic for 10 days. Did not help dizziness. Checked my heart, not the cause. Went to ENT, I hear fine and no BPPV and no water in the ears. I am scheduled for balance testing. Got my primary care doc to test my b12, since recent blood work showed high mcv, which means enlarged rbc, which could be from low b12, but test showed I have higher than normal b12!? What? I have been on metformin for years and it is supposed to impair absorption of B12! I have tried to supplement to keep my levels up though. B12 deficiency can cause balance issues among other things. Blood work also showed my tsh numbers are rising every year, so possible thyroid involvement, will need to get this checked out also. I have also been exhausted and sleeping more than usual and my limbs feel like they have lead weights attached to them. So, in other words, I am beyond frustrated about all of this and I am looking for help and answers. Thanks!

Did you test for vitamin D? Also you may want to try an audiologist and have them test you. The audiologist was my last stop and we’re able to diagnose me. They were a god send. If none of that works you may want to see a neurologist to rule out tumors or anything like that. If none of that works I would get a second opinion from a different ENT. I had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with labs

Oh My !! I have been going through the same thing for about two weeks now. I just went to the docto again yesterday and I was told I have a sinus infection and vertigo. I also do not have symptoms of a sinus infection. I was given an antibiotic and. Something for nausea. This starts the minute i get out of bed until about 5:pm.

They even tried to say that it was stress related, the only stress i am having is wondering what is wrong. I chose not to drive right now because of the dizzy spells.

Hope you feel better and I hope with your test they find out whats causing your systoms.

To cut a long story short, I am under a consultant for dizziness.  I have had an MRI, hearing test, balance test, they have put it down to MRV (migraine related vertigo) I am on medication but it's not making the dizziness stopping from happening.  It is taking over my life at the moment, I just want some medication to stop it from happening.

      Hello Carina

I was on medication for dizziness and nausea. What seemed to help was when I took one when i first woke up and one before bedtime. Also when the dizziness was really bad I would put an ice pack in the back of my neck and it would really help calm the dizziness.

After all kinds of test, i have a really bad sinus infection that caused vertigo. Hope you feel better.

I have wondered if it could be sinus related as I am constantly blocked but I am seeing my consultant tomorrow so will update.  I get it when I am walking, always have an unsteady feeling when walking as if I am being pulled to one side.

Sounds like what I have. I really hope you feel better. I put heavy objects like giant DVD cases on me if I'm feeling too lightheaded.

Serc helped me in the first year.

    Avoid caffeine.

I know how you feel Angie, I'm just lying here and my whole body feels like it's moving/shaking. I just move my eyes and I get the dizzy sensation. I don't have insurance so I can't really go to the Dr.

My daughter has had chronic dizziness for 3 years and we finally got a diagnosis.  I want to share for all the people out there suffering, I spent hours going over health forums to find answers.  She has what is called Chronic Subjective Dizziness or Persistent postural perceptual dizziness (3PD).  Here is a link for more info: https://vestibular.org/pppd

Hi there I just came across this and it sounds identical to what I have been experiencing for the past two weeks now. I see this discussion was posted a year ago and wanted to see what the final outcome was for you. Did it finally go away, or are you still experiencing dizziness?

    Thanks
