Another year of PMR come and gone, new people arrived, some left. But one thing hasn't changed: the support of like-minded people.

Best wishes to you all!

Happy Christmas to you and OH. Thank you for the time you take to answer all our queries and worries - even on Christmas Day! Here’s hoping you improve greatly after all the years you have had PMR and OH looks forward to better health.

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback especially Eileen.   This forum has been so comforting being able to get great advice that the doctors seem to be unaware of.  Merry Christmas to all.

Pity we can't sign up one doctor from each Practice who could keep others informed.

My sister seems to have been lucky with hers. First they thought it was sciatica but when two doses of Tramadol did nothing and she remarked that her arms were hurting and she supposed that it was because they were being honorary legs and feeling the strain I and her GP thought the same thing and when ESR came  in at 90 I, at least, would have put my house on it. In the meantime, as well as the bloods, the Practice arranged hip x-rays but all well with bones, just normal wear and tear. All this within a week which I thought impressive. Has to wait until Wed. for results of more blood tests... not sure for what as all the usual stuff came back as normal. So that would be three of us in my family; mother had it, too.

      Genetic susceptibility...

But obviousy your GP practice could set up a course on recognising PMR and the right questions to ask!

Thank you for sharing all your knowledge in a witty but wise way.  I am looking at a third year with PMR in 2018.  Since staying at 6 mgs all of this year, mainly for knee replacement, I recently had time to look up the knee forum, only to discover the pain many experience.  I think perhaps pred helped me to avoid knee pain.  I look forward to many more PMR columns next year.  Again, thanks.

I know they have what I call staff meetings. I'd like to be a fly on the wall with permission to buzz occasionally.

I personally have been lucky and only recently met one who, very nicely, suggested I had unreasonable expectations for an 85 y.o.. I put him in the same class as the young vet. I encountered years ago. His boss said, " He's a good vet; he's still learning about people."
