Withdrawal from benzodiazepines

Hi 

I was wondering if anyone had ever withdrawn from benzodiazepines and if so how did they go about it and how long did it take. Also what are the side effects of withdrawal and how did people cope.

    I took 30mg of dalmane for 22 years. Tried to stop last year at this time and nearly killed myself doing it. Still taking 5mg per night and a zolpidem er. I supplement this with Melatonin, gaba, L-theanine, benedryl all available at Amazon.(except the Z) I am 72 years old. How old are you?

      I am 60 .

      ​I spoke to a dr yesterday and she advised me on dosage and weaning off. Felt better until this morning when spasms started all over again. Lasted all day then took 10 mgms of clobazam. Spasms decreased. Expect this will be the pattern until off the dammed stuff. She said reduce by 5 mgms a week.

      ​What happened to you last year Ken?
