Worms in the Face

Hi All,  I dont know if anyone has come across this.  I have a worm infestation in my face.  They travel around under the skin leaving tracks and bursting holes into my skin.  they create glass like balls that split the skin open and move around my skin with ease.

I first reported it 3 months ago and the doctors totally ignored me treating me for a secondary infection that was caused by open wounds in my face.  They have given me 4 courses of antibiotics treating the wrong infect but totally ignored waht I was telling ithem about the worms.

The worms whatever they are are very sharp and whereever they travel through in my face the skin collapses, leaving it like plastercine and it causes tiny splinters that are as sharp as anything that inbed themselves in the inside and outside of my skin right down to the lowest skin level. My skin is also producing a clear sticky substance which feels like little shards of glass if I touch it.  All in all, it really couldnt be much worse except for the fact they have made a hole around my mouth which they can look out of.  I am totally sane!

I am in pieces.  I've been telling the doctors what it is and they have totally ignored me.  Even refusing to refer after an A & E i visited confirmed I needed to be referred as the lesions had been on my face for so long.

I discovered I had private medical care through my company which now thank god means I've seen my first dermatologist.  He's referred me to another dermatlogist that apparently knows more about things in the skin who I'm yet to see.  Even though he's now put me in the right direction, I'm not convinced he was sure it is worms.  I can pull 1/2 inch worms out of my skin bit by bit.  They look like thread worms and never come out intact, you pull little bits off of them.  It leaves worm shape dents in my face and they feel like little match sticks under the skin.  Nobody is taking me seriously as people dont really get worms in the face.

They have totally destroyed me skin and I have bad scaring.  I have never had acne and had no scaring.   This has all been caused in the last 3 months.  I dread to think how many are alive in there now they'v been left so long.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

I totally feel where your coming from. My experience with my doctor didn't go well either. My boyfriend and doctor think I'm on drugs. i have worms crawling under my skin everywhere, but every time I get one on my face it stays for months, then when i finally get rid of it i get another one on my other check, its never ending! my last one i pulled so many strings of blood from the hole it lives in, what i saw in the hole shocked me, it looked like white baby maggots laying in pockets of my skin.

image I've had the same thing going on I was prescribed ivermectin for scabies I believe it to be a worm at first I thought it was fiberglass resin and wood fibers or splinters coming out of me from previously working on an old boat of mine the dermatologist I seen didn't even examine me or explain very much was not happy with that didn't take the medicine at first but seen a worm come out of my face between my eye and my temple and immediately took the medicine it's only been 4 days not sure how it's working haven't had really any itching just feels like something's crawling under my skin and I have to just give it a couple of light scratches feel them really all over me from top of head to bottom of feet I'd like sharp hard clear glass like things in my arms legs and face could never get one out fully intact been trying to figure this out for a while I ordered my own microscope and will do my own blood and stool checks something that could be life threatening I would have thought examination with a magnifying glass a skin scraping a stool sample of blood sample would have been something the dermatologist would have taken to confirm one of the other he did not he may have had it right with the medicine it's supposed to take care of scabies and certain types of worms haven't had any real symptoms but feel really really bad dirty cannot put it into words it has more of a psychological impact I was mad and in disbelief at first

Seems many previous posters have dropped out of this forum. I hope they have all gotten an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Unfortunately, they may have just given up looking.

From what I've read here, it sounds like sufferers have one of four types of infections: Mites, Worms, Lyme-related Morgellons, or Fungal Infection.

Demodex is the most common mite, and can multiple out of control.

Worms cover a large range from flat worm, round worm, and blood born (from bite of insect). Too many sub-categories to list, but all have proven to infect human skin in some form and manner.

Morgellons has just come out of the dark ages as it has been clinically proven to be caused by Lyme Disease. This is the one that was previously most often diagnosed as delusional parasitosis (all it takes is one study cited frequently to gain a foothold), and wasn't until the completion of 2016-2019 studies proved that diagnosis was incorrect. The old data still dominates journals (25 to 1) however, so physicians are likely to still be diagnosing delusional in most cases looking up symptoms and complaints of patients (yes Doctors jump online to read medical journals, and diagnostic articles even while patients wait in exam rooms). This is why so many who have come here are getting that feedback. Clinical doctors are not pathologists - but the few who are more curious and actually look for infection data can find it. That is overwhelmed by delusional diagnosis articles though. Truly tragic. With time, that will evolve and the newer studies will be seen.

Fungal infections can be misdiagnosed or missed altogether. Parasite infections of other types get commonly misdiagnosed as fungal too. Both often occur at same time as well.

The bottom line is most if not all of those who have posted here are many times more likely to have a real parasitic infection than a delusional psychosis.

My guess it falls in at 90% (the other 10% those who just post to post) have an undiagnosed parasitic infection in one of the four categories mentioned. Some may have more than one type listed. Those 90% who are really sufferers - my guess is not even one is delusional.

Read up and get educated - If you are lucky to find an infectious disease physician or dermatologist who has experience beyond just "travel infections" (most informed tend to be those with overseas experience where human parasite infections are understood to be rather common) then you are truly fortunate. You don't have to travel overseas to get these infections. They are increasing everywhere. Accepted by equestrian vets is the fact that EVERY horse will get parasites - that is unfortunately where most of the USA research is focused, not humans - Horses get better parasitic treatment than humans here in America, where it's thought we can only contract such drinking swamp water in a third world country or bitten by flies in Africa. In reality, you can contract parasites easily if you eat raw fish (yes sushi), undercooked beef or pork, walk in your back yard with bare feet, or are bitten by a tick (360,000 new cases of lyme occur every year in the USA according to the CDC - most go undiagnosed!).

There are many other vectors that can cause parasitic infections as well.

    Hope this help!

I am in the same boat, suffering for almost 2 years. I would like to know from the folks in Ga. the names and numbers of their Doctors. There was an article about a Doctor in NORTH GA that believes in this type of worm and treats for this condition.

I live in Western Pa any info would be greatly appreciated. WE WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS!!!

I just happened to come across this post as I was scouring the internet for answers to my own issues. I was really surprised to see someone explaining all of my symptoms that I've been having because nobody that I have talked to, doctors and others, know what's going on or even believe me that something's going on etc etc. I have been dealing with this for over a year now. I've seen several different specialists including dermatologists and I keep getting told that either I'm doing it to myself or that I am delusional! I've been treated so badly by those in the healthcare industry that I don't ever want to have to go back to see a doctor. But I know that I have to because it's not getting better and I am starting to really get concerned for my health. I hope that you can find some answers and if so let me know please and vice versa. image
