Would ladies attend a social group for pcos suffers offering advice and support about diet fitness ?

I was diagnosed with pcos at around 21 I am now 27 and as I've got older and struggled more with the different elements it can bring I'm wondering why there is not a local group who meet to support and discuss maybe even advise and share their experiences? I'm wondering how other ladies feel about this if there was such a group would you feel it's something that would benefit you?

Hi Emma. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my 20's. I'm now 44. I think a local group would be a great idea. Doctors don't offer any advice anymore and I think you need to live with the condition to be able to give the best advice. I would love to know how others cope and be able to chat with them.

    Great idea.

    Please keep me updated.

Hi jo, I'm so glad u agree I just feel u seem to get diagnosed and left to get on with it and it's only been this last year I guess I've actually researched into the condition and started to make lifestyle changes to help and benefit me. I also got very low when I was diagnosed with pcos and felt no one understood me another reason I think a support group could help

      Thanks for replying

I feel this will be a great idea. Although family and partner try and understand they can't truly understand as they are not going through the same thing.

    Hi

It would be a brilliant idea for a support group.

I was diagnosed at 14 in 2006 im now 22 and I'm still struggling to get any help or answers one Dr tells you one thing and then another tells you the completely opposite, I know two other women with PCOS and both have children and they don't really have any advice as they were both diagnosed after they had children so it's just the weight gain they're dealing with, I live in South Wales in Swansea and for some reason PCOS seems to be unheared of around here the number of times I've had to explain to medical professionals what it is, which is quite hard because I've never been told the exact medical stuff about it I only know what I've read on the Internet, a support group would be very helpful I think

If a PCOS group was created I would be over the moon!

I wa diagnosed after blood tests with PCOS and was told by a practision nurse (who was telling me the answers from a textbook) so I left not knowing what the heck was wrong with me, a group would be a huge help as i am 21 and wanting to start a family but have no idea what i should and shouldn't be doing!

    LETS GET A GROUP! smile

      Hi Kirsty

I also agreed that we should start up a group, as I feel so many people would benefit from chatting to others who suffer with PCOS. So where do we start?

I imagine it would be difficult as we all live around England.

But it is certainly something that should be looked into as i feel it is the same as having these weightloss groups which i think are great but with obesity at its high at the moment they started weightloss programmes and I feel PCOS is also out there effected a lot of women more than people suspect as this forum has proved but its gone un noticed or cared about!

If each person replies with where they live, then people can reply to the people in their area directly. That way, maybe we could arrange individual area groups.

    Maybe that could work.
