I posted this in another converstation but thought it might be fun to start a 'whinge' post. twisted What do you 'hate'?

You know what I hate?

People who, even when they know I have PMR, suffer fatigue, on a cocktail of medications - all of which have caused a huge weight gain, tell me I need to go for a walk as it will make me feel better!!

I hate that I finally gave away all my "good " clothes because with the weight

gain they didn't fit anymore.   Finally decided that at my age (80) that i wasn't

going to get back down to previous weight.   I hated when I caught my husband

rolling his eyes when I complained one time too many, I guess....I hate that he

says' he'll help me if I show him what I want him to do.....DUH....might as well

do it myself....on and  on.....thanks for the chance for a little rant this a.m.....

Rather rash!  I am 77 and after 5 years on high doses of Pred (now down to 5 mg) I have got 'below' my previous weight.  Age and eating less helped.

How does age keep you from gaining weight?   If that's true I should

be going down on a daily basis......I don't over eat.   If I could get down

to 5mg maybe could lose but having difficulty reducing.....

and......at my age I have other health issues.

Me too!  OA, OP, Tendonitis, high blood pressure, kidney problems - I'm still  alive and kicking though (well 'tottering'wink.

Perhaps the low Pred dose is helping.  How long have you had PMR?

So pleased you have managed to get to such a low dose! Good old Lodotra isn't it? It may be pricey but it does seem to have some advantages.

Do you have to pay for it?  I don't, so lucky I suppose.

I was informed (on this forum) that you shouldn't 'mix' Pred and Lodotra.  However, when I was in the Rheumatisum Clinic recently, they put me on  Lodotra, 3mg, at night and told me to take 2mg Pred in the mornings.

What do you think about it?

No, not here, just the prescription charge.

Why not - what difference does it make? It is only effectively splitting the dose. The Lodotra will work nicely overnight and you'll be able to function in the morning. The 2mg in the morning will keep the effect going longer through the day and cost far less. There's no point using a 2mg Lodotra to work during the day - the idea of Lodotra is to be raring to go at 6am without having to get up in the night to take it.

I tell people to mix enteric coated and plain pred - exactly the same concept. If I needed to split the dose I'd do it too - except here I can only have Medrol which was poison to me and the reason I'm on Lodotra as the only other option.

That's another expression I've forgotten "raring to go".😀

I;ve had PMR almost three years.  Initially went right down to 4mg but

had bout of sciatica that really put me down.....sed back up so pred

back to 20mg and hard time reducing.   I have COPD,  high b/p

herniated disc in back,  chiro says rotated pelvis that causes numbness

below waist whenever I stand for long. Osteo in several places,. worst

of the pain in the shoulders, wrists and knees .   I'm alive but doubt that I

      could do much kicking.....

I checked and could not find one in my area.....I don't want a long

ride.   Thanks for the info......but I've read from some on the forum

      it did nothing for them.....

Maybe not - but for a lot of us it DID make a difference. The only way you find out is by trying.

      Where are you?
