Zopiclone 3.75 withdrawal

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hello! I have been taking half of a 3.75mg of zopiclone every night for nearly 3 months. I stopped taking it 3 nights ago and have had very broken sleep which is to be expected. I have also been feeling very agitated and dizzy, is this withdraws symptoms or am I over thinking it? I spoke to my therapist and he told me to start taking it again tonight and then come of it slowly. I'm not sure what to do...I'm also on citalopram

Yes I think so..your therapist is right.a half is really small.but I would go very slowly now.maybe shave a little of the half pill and see how it goes

You wouldn;t think that that small a dose would have side effects, but I don't know. I would do what the therapist recommends. It is not a drug to stop cold turkey......but I am not a doctor, just from personal experience and research, go off in small increments. And check out the other drug and see what side effects are common with that....maybe you need to get off that as well.

I've tried many times to stop and when I try I can't sleep feel dizzy stressed etc.i take 3.75 then I wake 2,3,4 hrs later and can't get back to sleep unless I have another 3.75. If I try to cut down a stress or illness sets me back to square one. I give up.

If you're not having any side effects, don't stress too much about it. You need sleep or you will get sick. Ask your  doctor about alternatives if you want to get off.

Why not take 7.5mg instead of two lots of 3.75mgs.  Maybe you wouldn't wake in the night then.

I've tried 7.5 I still wake up the same I can't take another 7.5 so if I take 3.75 then wake up 2,3,4 hrs later and take another 3.75 ive still only taken 1x 7.5 all night as I break the 7.5 in half

    I take 8 of those 3.75's

My doctor would throw a blue fit , I fell bad if I take a whole one now, although on a half I wake up every 2 or 3 hours, but thats fine I can cope with that

Are you saying you cope with 2 or 3 hrs sleep or can you wake up and get back to sleep again without taking more zopiclone?

Yes I do.I have gone from 7-5 too 3-75 and I cut them in half .so I'm on 1-87 I take half go too bed.I read and fall asleep after maybe 40 mins.if I can't sleep I get up ,have drink something too eat go back too bed.I sleep maybe 3 hours and then fall asleep again.I try hard not too take more zip. If I ha e a stressful day I might a whole 3'75

Now a 7'5is too much for me im heavy headed if took one.in fact im heavy headed on 2 75' so half is good

My doctor said just get and do something so I do .go back too bed and it works.took a few weeks to do it

oh Daniel that's a lot ! Although I have a friend in London who takes 2x7.5It says on the prescription not to take more than one 7.5 at night and for max 3 weeks though I've been on them years and 20years before that on vallium for sleep.

There so addictive I can never switch off without them

That's good. I've reduced to a quarter of 3.75 and then I get flu or someone upsets me etc and I'm soon back to 7.5. I can never quite stop. I never get heavy headed.

Im not perfect, I do often take 1,87 m  but sometimes a 3.75 if I a cold or im stressed, I have been known to take 3 hallf s as well, but never 7.5  , I just make my self take less

      I've been taking 2 x 7.5mg for 3 months, I've been on 7.5mg a night before that for 10 years

      Daniel I thought you said earlier you took 8 x 3.75. That is 4 x 7.5 not 2 x7.5.

however if it is 2 x 7.5 a night and you took 1 x7.5 for ten years is that to say you became resistant to 7.5 and therefore had to double the dose.

      resistance to sleepers is terrifying.

Yes I meant 4 not 8, yes I hit tolorance I've just reduced today down to I took a 1/4 less last night, my first night I managed to reduce from 15mg zopiclone to 11.25mg I didn't sleep well, but I slept, I just didn't get very deep sleep (feel achy and unrested) but happy I managed it

Yes I know what you mean I think the subconscious knows you've taken less and hinders the quality of the sleep. I often feel I can easily stop and then when I try to a simmering panic kicks in.
