'undiagnosable' abdominal pain.

Hi there,
I've had right severe abdominal pain, just below my rib line, It's a constant pain and i've experienced it for about 4 months now. At first I didn't really pay attention to it, it then became too painful to ignore at all. I would find myself waking up at night, or having to sit/lay down at work clutching my side. One day at work it became so painful I collapsed, and began having heart palpitations, after calling an ambulance I was sat inside it for 30 minutes or so hooked up to an ecg, my heart beat averaged about 125. I've seen about 10 doctors, 4 of my local GP's, and had 3 trips to AnE. The palpitations proceeded the severe pain a total of 3 times so far, It'd feel as if something in my right side had almost burst and spread across my body becoming numb and having severe chest pain - and I honestly thought I was having a heart attack because of the pain and the feeling of my heart pumping through my chest.
I guess the best thing will be to answer every question they've asked me..
I'm a healthy 19 year old male, I've eaten healthy, exercised often, i'm 10 stone 8, and i'm 5ft 8. I am not a drug user, although I am partial to the occasional binge drink (Like most teenagers).
I do not lift heavy objects, I work in a bar and don't lift any barrels/trays of glasses. I have been a smoker for a year now, and have been cutting down since the pain started, although giving it up entirely is quite hard as i'm finding it the only thing that has relaxed me. I've had no blood in my urine/feces/vomit. I have only vomited once during the 4 months. I do not have a temperature, I do not have a fever, the pain is not increased when pressure is applied. It is not relieved by warm/cold packs etc. The doctors are adamant I do not have appendicitis, i've had 3 ultrasounds which show no stones in my kidneys or galbladder and everything is as of normal size.
When I was admitted into AnE and asked to spend 2 more nights in the hospital I became so bad I had to have someone to hold me up while I walk, I couldn't sit up due to the pain and I would be so tired that I couldn't get out of bed. They had asked me to stay because of one blood test that showed my liver functions spiking high (I think it was billirubin? - and no I had not had a heavy night of drinking or anything the night before It was taken) They released me because they said being an outpatient would be faster (Which, it isn't, as the specialist i've been referred to will not be able to see me until december, when it's september now.)
Through all the doctors i've seen, i've stuck with one who has been incredibley helpful throughout this all, although completely clueless to what is going on with me.
Whilst in the hospital I've had a doctor tell nurses to stop giving me any pain killers because Im probably just a drug addict, and other doctors tell me it's complete anxiety, and others take one look at me and say it's a mucle inflammation under my rib.
It's got to the point where I can't work, my relationships are suffering incredibly because I can hardly do anything. I Can't drink without having incredibly bad hang overs which last for days or throwing up after the first couple of pints, some days I will wake up and sit on the floor because it's too painful to lie down or stand up. My relationship with my partner is suffering, as it is most of the time too painful to be intimate. This is ruining my life, and all the doctors are telling me 'come back if it gets worse, but there's nothing wrong with you'.
But as I said, 3 ultra sounds, 2 x-rays, 15 blood tests (Including one for hepatitus).
And nothing except one liver function spike, the once. My blood sugars are normal, there's nothing abnormal in my urine.
What i've told every doctor i've seen;
I've had severe right abdominal pain. Just below my rib. So severe I can not walk etc. I've had constipation for 4 months a long with the pain, which every now and then seems to just disappear. It seems to become more severe every other week, and on 3 occasions so painful I have collapsed and either thought I was having a heart attack or my appendix had burst due to the pain.
Please, any help is incredibly appreciated, I just want my life back!
Thank you, Alex.

Few results from them, but so far I've been diagonsed with Costochondritis in 2013, and Diverticulitis in 2014. No meds for the Costochondritis, and only a round of Flaygl for the other.
I have had many, many stomach operations, including a total hysterctomy (long incision along my lower belly), Emergency Ovarian Cyst removal (long scar perpidicular over belly), several laproscopic surgeries, and Gallbladder Removal surgery.
I have also had 3 bowel blockages during this time. The last ending with an NG tube, and in the hospital for 5 days.
I have been told that I also have a hiatel hernia, and a belly button hernia. But doc has ruled out Crohn's disease, Celiac disease, and IBS. I see my internist and myGastroenterologist for these pains. I am not allowed to take any ibuprofen anymore, because I had to take so much of it in my 30's and 40's because of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis pain before I had my hystrectomy. And I also can't take pain killers, because it can acerbate my bowel blockages.
Not sure where to go from here. I am 51 yrs old and in constant pain.
Hope you have found relief from the pain.

Was wondering how you got on with the pain/hospital. I have just come across this after googling my symptons which are very similar to yours. I noticed that I only get this pain when I am constipated like you have had ultrasounds and x-rays, and the only thing they have come up with is my liver. The pain has been getting worse the longer I am constipated, I did have a good Doctor who listened to me and she gave me Movicol and suppositors to help clear the backlog, but she left and no one else seems to listen to me, I get told there is nothing wrong and I am just imagining it :-(

A food diary could help...there may be something linked to fatty foods.....
Get the ambulance paramedics out and off to A&E when you're in pain/passing out/having chest pain.....mine travelled from the rib and into the chest. I spent a week in High dependency before I had the ultrasound that identified gall stones.....Keep doing it and they will find something.
Sounds like you might have gall stones one might be in the biliary tube which might be difficult to identify....endoscopy? Go back to your doctors and tell them you keep waking up in the night in pain, the affects it's having on your life and that you need painkillers and that you'd like to be referred for more diagnosis. DO NOT LEAVE the doctors room until you get what you want. Get a second opinion. Also, when you become ill again, phone for an ambulance!

I too have previously suffered with similar ailments and ended up having all the scans and x-rays to no avail, after my 4th emergency hospital admission, they decided to do a HIDA scan which looks at the gall bladder to work out if it is functioning correctly. My gall bladder was working at only 10% of what is should have been, so they decided to remove it. The specialist told me the gall bladder had been inflammed and this had stopped it working correctly. This is bearing in mind that my blood results and tempertaure had come back normal.
Just keep on pushing for the correct treatment, if you are ill, they have to treat you. Go to a different hospital, they may find something that others have not detected.
Good luck and I hope you are getting the treatment you need.

"18 times huh? And still you have NO FREAKING CLUE what's causing me so much pain? "
Long story short. ...recently I have had 2 vomiting episodes where it looked like I puked dirt. I took pictures because I'd never see vomit look like that and trust me...I have see plenty of vomit. Additionally, my stool looked white. The doc said that vomiting black substance like that is a sign of a GI bleed. He asked if there was blood in my stool and I said no. In the past I have had blood in my stool and it was always visible. He said to be safe he had to put his finger where the sun don't shine. To my surprise, he said there was blood on his glove and I was admitted. ....for exactly what ..I don't know. All I knew was I had a GI bleed which sounded pretty scary to me. They hooked me up to iv for fluids nausea medication and pain meds ...which didn't help much. The dose was 0.5mg of dilaudid. Reglan seemed to work better because it relieved the cramping. So here I lay with no clue what in my GI is bleeding, what can be done to stop it and when it will all stop.
All I can say is hang in there. Your not alone. I'll keep u in my prayers.

I have been using it for a couple days now with promising results. I have avoided foods that would reduce the acidity of my stomach such as milk or milk like products. I've also avoided eggs as it has produced bad belching and stomach bloat.
What has worked well for me is using either the pill or diluted vinegar before a meal and after a meal to hit the food from both sides. Doing so has reduced the pain of eating by half. My stomach still hurts but it might be residual pain from being in bad shape for so long. Hope this helps at least one person on here get back to semi normal.
